? for Forced induction people.

I am getting different info about insurance matters. Some say don't report the engine mods(super charger...etc) to the insurance company cause it they will jack my payments up and others say that I should in case something happens to the car not related to the mods. Can anyone share their own dealings with F.I and their insurance companies?

Definitely report it. Not only is it the legal and ethical thing to do, there are just too many bad scenarios where not reporting it could really mess you up.

1. You cause an accident and the claims adjustor decides not to cover your totaled car. The payments keep coming in AND you have to fix your car out of pocket.
2. a small accident at 25 mph and the supercharger, radiator, bumper and lights set you back $10,000 and no insurance.
3. You're in a wreck (not at fault) and the other persons insurance company finds out about your aftermarket mod and decides not to pay you for your damages.
4. The supercharger causes your motor to blow for whatever reason. If you're insured you could file a claim and *try* to get a new engine AND a new supercharger.

I could keep going, but I think you get the point. Also, why don't you call your insurance company and ask if there would be any premium increases if you added such a feature? They might surprise you. For the record, a 2004 E46 M3 would only coss me another $65 every 6 months more than full coverage insurance on my 2004 G35C-6MT.

301-bhp!!! ...and growing!

I had never even thought about insurance relating to the addition of a S/C. So, I called my insurance lady today and she told me that they don't car about it, but it won't be covered in the cause of an accident. I can add coverage to it, for $200 a year (up to $5000 of coverage). This is through progressive.
