I've seen many people do this to allow stock N/A engines hold more power without having to forge the engine. How about the VQ? Anyone ever put thicker gaskets to lower compression to make more power on the stock long block?

Lower the compression and you will lose power. I can maybe see doing it to aid when boosted but not for an N/A engine ever.

I meant with boost...sorry for not specifying. This is the forced induction section though.

I usually don;t pay attention to that...haha but yeah, that would help but again, never seen it. One thing you CANNOT DO is put 2 head gaskets together. If you could find one it would help a bit.

You can't do this to the VQ motor.
Front timing chain cover will not line up.

not sure why someone would want take out the motor to just replace the headgasket and leave the block stock? This isnt a honda where u can just pop off the head when it's still in the engine bay.

Wow...I thought you could. Ouch.

Then I agree it would be useless.

It was mentioned before but it cant be done due to the design of the vq.

you are still limited in hp due to the rods. All's higher compression and boosted means is you can run less timing and need higher octane fuel (in general). But you are still limited to 400-430rwhp'ish on stock rods.
