Supercharger reliability?

So I've always been a big SC fan and would love one on the G, but I don't know if it will hold up to the miles I drive. I drive over 40k a year for work and HAVE to have a reliable car, so does anyone make a kit that will hold up for 100k+ miles?

Normal DD and once a while street race, i don't see any problems at all. Just keep your eyes on belts.

The Stillen kit is perfect for a DD. I know everyone bashes because it doesn't put out the #s like other FI kits, but for that reason it's extremely reliable and easy on your engine. I've had mine for 13,000 miles now with zero issues. My gas miliage is exactly the same (as long as i keep my foot out of the gas, lol) and it has enough extra HP for me without damaging the stock engine.

If you decide to go this route, go directly to stage 4. I bought mine in stages and probably spent a couple grand extra that way.

I put my s/c on my g at 60k and no worries. As long as you have a good tune and easy on the foot you should be good.

IMO, if you don't have a second car, and a reliable DD like what your saying is required. You shouldn't boost it period. The minute you add more power, your going to run into problems that you would not normally of had with a stock car. That really goes with any modification though.

I agree. Futhermore, if you don't have a 2nd car make sure you have the funds to buy a new engine.

Not to hijack, but TgunsG35 what setup are you running? I like those numbers you have, ideal hp and tq that is within the spec of my tranny (330). Which belt, exhaust, cats, injectors, ecu, fuel pump, etc.

Thanks for all the help guys. I'll have to do some more research before I make a decision. One thing I really would like to know is are there any members that have SC that have been running for a long time? Anyone have one for 50-75k or more?

I would go with the vortec or a single turbo. something like an sts setup with super low intake and under hood temps and if most of your miles are daily driving/highway miles your motor wont even be seeing boost that often. AND you will be putting down significantly more whp and ALOT more torque than with a supercharger.

Study the various users of superchargers: MB, Bentley, Jag and US most use Eaton type [with mods] for reliability [1/2- 1/3 the rpm thus fewer bearing problems].

Just keep a spare on hand and budget for a rebuilt.

Stillen supercharger is probably the most reliable, as said before just jump straight to stage 4 to save you some dollars. If you are automatic deffinately go supercharger, it has a more linear curve so it will be easier on your tranny. Belts are the only problems, i hear their not too expensive though.

i would never do a SC on a daily driver. Way too much mechanical things to go wrongs and too many belts ready to flail all over your engine bay. Not to mention the constant parasitic loss by having to drive the blower all the time.

I'd go with a single turbo. turbonetics is perfect for stock block goals. the only people that hate on it are tryin to push it past its designed capabilities.

That would be my suggestion, having a SC myself, and its def not my daily driver.
