Will this work?

I will be in the process of rebuilding my engine in the next few months and I'm wondering if i can do a 11:1 rebuild and still run a Vortech at around 8-10 psi. Any comments are welcome.

I personally would not. If you are rebuilding the motor I would get lower compression pistons, rods and use the 2.87 pulley. There are some good vortech guys on here, that will chime in.

I'm just wondering mainly about reliability. I've built small blocks to11:1 and ran a 671 on it pushing about 10 psi back before I joined the Army and ran out of time for things like drag racing. I had no issues out of chevy engines just wondering if the VQ will hold up as well.

No in short. With the higher compression your run greater risk of detination, with not much reward. Yes you can make higher hp with less psi of boost, but the risk is much higher. If you are going to do all this work why did you settle on 10psi? If you have a built block 10psi is teasing it for more, I think the boost for the 2.87 is approx 14psi. (Vortech guys correct me if I am wrong) Also if you are looking for 600+ ditch the supercharger, you need to get some big boy turbos.

Cool thanks for the help. Guess I'm going big turbos this is the first Nissian engine I've had use to Chevy and a few 6G72 Mitsubishi motors.

Yeah if your looking to put out 600 plus to those wheels..look at getting twin turboed big time..You should look at the stroke kits available..lower that to 8 or 9:1 and run your psi around 13 to give a nice good feel. I am putting out 506 Whp with the V3 8:1 with BC 4.1 Stoke Built motor. and 12 psi..

you dont need a stroker to put out over 600 hp, save your money and buy a nice TT kit and a basic built shortblock

500whp @ 12psi on a Stroker...Wow thats low. 12-13psi on a good setup strokers that I know of makes high 680 to over 700+ whp at that psi level on pump gas.

I am over 800whp with a built 3.5L. IMO...No one needs a stroker if you plan to stay below 700whp.

The only reason I have now installed a 4.0L Stroker...is because i plan to go over 1000whp.

I have it set that way so I dont blow another motor like I did last time..I would like to see what u say when that motor goes in about 6months to a year..not a DD? I just put the boost up to 19psi, I planned on going over 20 but I got scared a little bit, I will post the dyno this weekend so everyone can see that a V3 can put out over 795 WHP

All i am saying is 500whp at 12-13psi on a stroker is low. The Strokers that I have seen make way more at that psi. I am not knocking your setup....I am just wondering why would someone install a Stroker that makes the same kind of power as a regular built motor at the same PSI.

There are members on my350z with strokers that have been running for many years running it at 650-700whp for years....with numbers from a Dynamic Dyno...

Go over to the other site and do a search on what strokers make at what psi's....

I agree that 500whp on that boost is low. I made over 500whp on a 3.5L at 13psi on crappy AZ 91.
