Check it out...Flex-a-lite 210. The stock coupe will not work.

Re: 5AT Not Suitable for FI

I figured I'd bring this back up. I'm considering the valve body/TC upgrade from Level 10. Does anyone have this and can comment on the difference/worth the money? Thanks in advance.

Re: 5AT Not Suitable for FI

a guy on the old fx forums i was on (and still moderate ) has a level 10 modded tranny (fx45) , and reports now that there is NO lag in the shift... it shifts instantly... (slapshifter) as the have bypassed the 'black box'..

sorry for the crude expl., but i dont know enough to say anymore..

pm me (or gimme a call) if you wanna discuss or get specifics...

i would think what's good for the beefy fx45 should also apply for the less beefy (but more nimble and lightweight) g35... right?

For what it's worth, Level 10 will "bullet proof" the entire transmission for about $3200, but you must ship the tranny to them. According to them, they did a big contract (to do this upgrade) with some country in the mid-east who was having Nissan tranny failures in a few thousand miles because of the heat and mountains.

Re: 5AT Not Suitable for FI

Forget about Level 10 their product is POS. If you want to know why just ask.

While being a different car (s/c Accord V6), my stock 'auto tragic' is currently in upgrade stage to a real performance with LSD and supposed to handle at least 500HP. When I said upgrade I meant completely redone from scratch.

The company who responsible for it is well known in domestic world and recently went into import support as well. Most important, only due to this company my Accord project stayed alive. If anyone is serious about it PM me.

And here is the list of what will be done (end of Sepember) on my 4AT:

- Limited Slip Differential
- Upgraded fiber clutches
- Upgraded torque converter
- Custom built upgraded internal pieces
- Valve body modifications to improve shifting
- All upgrades are COMPATIBLE with the factory ECU
- Shift firmness will be improved
- Shift quality will be improved
- Will OUTLAST the stock autoTRAGIC transmission
- Expected power handling of 500 HP
- Improved WHEEL HP numbers as a result of better internals
- Improved WHEEL TQ numbers atributed to new torque convertor
- 1/4 mile times will be improved

2004 G35s auto (bone stock)
-----------------------------------
2002 s/c Accord V6 auto
so far best 1/4 mile - 13.9@101.8
coming soon: custom internals, cams, performance auto tranny w/LSD

What makes you say such harsh things about level 10? Sounds like you're getting a great tranny upgrade, where and how much is something like that costing? It appears that you love this company and you haven't gotten the tranny back yet?
HOW?

Re: 5AT Not Suitable for FI

Stillen also offers and recommends a valve body mod for the 5AT when their supercharger is installed. Presumably it is also available as a stand alone.

Re: 5AT Not Suitable for FI

Auto trannys have been known to start slipping soon after boosting it depending on how much lbs you're running. Level 10 tranny is a great place, but i've known some people who have had problems with them. One of them has had his car sitting for literally a year with a stage 2 kit but everytime the tranny comes back there is something else wrong. First it wouldn't go into reverse, then it wouldn't go out of park, then it wouldn't shift....

Re: 5AT Not Suitable for FI

Sent my torque converter to Edgeracingconverters.com ..They redid the torque converter and increased stall by about 400rpm's .Cost was around $450 . I also had dealer put in an upgrade program ,that they didnt even know was on there there computer . A Infiniti tech told me they had it for the 03 AT5 . It shifts harder and faster . I can burn rubber thru 1st , 2nd , and part of 3rd

Couldnt afford it when young...gonna play when Im old

Re: 5AT Not Suitable for FI

Just by upgrading your TC, you are able to chirp gears! I'm envious! How long did edge take to turn around your converter? Have you had the valve body upgraded? I hear that will let you chirp some gears.

That sucks about level 10 screwing up that guys tranny, but I don't think a valve body or tc would cause the car not to go into reverse.

Re: 5AT Not Suitable for FI

well they redid his entire tranny for him which costed him about 4k. So far the tranny has been back and forth i think 3 times..The car has turned into a picnic table not that just collects dust. usually the TC goes first, but that is an important part of the upgrade.
