^it sounds like you are looking for cheaper way to do( Even your title says). Also you said that your goal is 500whp. I defi know str8dum1's post coming from, I even felt that way.
Vortech isn't cheap to reach 500whp, I'm sure kit is cheaper but in the day, it can cause you more than turbo. If you are looking for reach 500whp, forget about try to save money from brand new kit. Buy used kit upgrade blower might save you money.

That's also a possibility. I'm thinking of a Vortech for the following reasons:

1) It's different. Everyone has a 500+whp turbo G...but few have 500whp SC G's.

2) Ease of maintenance...have you seen where the turbo's are? lol.

3) The SC allows me to start with little money and enjoy the car as I save to get more out of it. A turbo kit is expensive just to start playing ( it's more money up front even if at the end it's the same ).

4) For ME it should still be cheaper due to the fact that I'm a do-it-yourselfer and will probably get as many used parts as I can. I plan on porting and polishing my heads so that'll be free and I have a few tricks up my sleeve. Plus, even if I don't hit the 500 mark...I know of and easy way to do it and I'm not afraid it use it.

Hehe...yeah but the only ST kits that seem to be pretty good are just about as expensive as the twin kits and tend to have fitment issues ( or so I've read ) so I really dont consider them. Plus, you still can't say they are easier to install/uninstall than a Vortech can you?

BTW- Are you stalking me?

^ i dont know man, somehow it seems like i'm stalking you. lol
I did my SC, so i will say about only SC. If i do it over again, i think i can finish in a day. And one of my friend has powerlab kit, he said it was ok but he told me he wouldn't do install again. But for future, i had to replace pulley to get more boost and i will have to replace blower in future to get more power. But my friend who has turbo, all he gotta do is turn up more boost.

lol...

No doubt the powerlabs kit has far more potential...but at $7K ( haven't seen it cheaper ) it's more expensive than some TT kits.

Either way, all of my cars have been turbo ( even with the Grand Prix I removed the SC to turbocharge it )....I think it would be nice to try a SC build for once.

Dang, so bottom line is unless you have $tacks laying around (or can rebuild your own engine on the fly), supercharger/turbo isn't for you... I read the sticky on forced induction - our 'rods' are pretty fragile correct (referred to here as "glass)? And with boost you could blow your engine whenever, under any load (350/500/etc)? You essentially loose all reliability - thus if it's a daily driver without stacks of cash laying around and no technical aptitude I'm out of luck?

GT-ER What did you end up doing and are you confident with your purchase/install?

I'm waiting until december cause I'm getting married soon so right now I'm just doing my homework. For now though, the Vortech is winning hands down.

I think I bought my Polished V3 for about 4,200 or so. Just make sure you get the V3, makes it much easier to install and changing the oil in the SC is really easy...

yes any of the single kits are just as easy to install as a vortech. the 7g PL kit is a full kit. Full vortech kits are just a lil cheaper (~6g) but dont come with as good of a EMS (ss box vs UTEC).

Once you jump in, the price difference between a ST and vortech is not much. So they guy above got the tuner kit for $4200. Add in another 700 or so for the EMS, another 500$ for injectors, $100 for the fuel pump, $100 for a smaller pulley and thats about 5600$, barely less than $1000 difference between that a PL. And that will get your about 400hp. Drop another 2g or so to get to high 400s. All the sudden you are way over the price of the ST that will make 600+ out of the box.

In the end its your money, but there's a reason there's not many guys making 500 hp on a vortech.

First of all, I can't use a utec on my car without serious cable splitting so a full kit is not an option. Second, the Powerlabs TUNER kit costs over $6K....that's over $2K more than a Vortech which is more than enough to add fueling and maybe even cams ( almost anyways ). I'm not knocking the ST kits cause frankly they are hot...but bang for the buck it's hard to compare ( initial price anyways ).

Why most of the Vortech guys end up changing to turbo or twins? Ultimate power or power delivery?
I know the turbo have a much, much better power potential down the road, but It is really very noticeable the difference from a 400whp supercharged or turbo.
I know the instant torque is gratifying form my previous GTP.

Haha...good point. I remember my GTP, torque was sick but it's also a roots type SC...not the same thing. When I turbo'd it I lost a TON of low end torque...it was ultimately WAY faster anyways so I was happy.

Roots delivers instant torque. I did not mod my GTP but imagine yours was a blast.
If only stillen had at least an M90 and not that M62 for 4 bangers.
BTW - te compraste el rev up que estaba en carrito? Estaba dao.
