Check this out...I was looking around and found a vortech tuner kit online for under $4k! Does this sound ridiculous?

Not too good to be true. IIRC, some of the vendors on the forum had better pricing.

Could you tell which vendors? Other than this, I found $3,999 for a polished tuner kit on superchargersonline.com

Wow...these kits are cheaper than I thought. I've been debating between a Vortech and a Turbo kit for a while now but the price on the Vortechs are really hard to beat.

Everythingg35 sells the stillen top mount for $3599 I'm pretty sure. But then you need the big hood... so another $700.

Yo estoy en las mismas que tu.

Turbo – More Torque, no parasitic loss, more power down the road but would be more difficult to install and possibly harder on the block. Would loss more NA stuff also
Vortech – easer to install (could do it my self). Less torque (stress on the rods) , would compliment my 3.9FD and most of the NA stuff but if you are looking for big power down the road it is difficult to get.

I am inclined to get a Vortech tuner with 9lbs. pulley

Also remember the tuner kit would not have fuel pump and fuel management unit or EMS
You would need at least a walbro, injectors, UTEC with MAP sensor or other management system.

Yeah, I know. I purposely want it that way so that I can choose the fueling/tuning components on my own.

Hehehe...not quite. I'm probably sticking to a piggyback. What size fuel injectors are those in the link posted above? Also, what is included in that fuel kit?
