Could you elaborate? I have never heard of losing power as a result of BOV location. It's only open under vacuum, so I don't see how it would have any effect on power?

I also installed my TT kit with the engine in the car and what a pita.Those pic's of the wrenches made me remember some of the ones i had to make.Great job on the fab work as i know i couldnt have done that myself since i cant weld worth a crap.

well, i think im right,im procharged and have a pressure release valve..could be a bit dif with a bov..but a friend of mine has a tt g with his bov's where urs are,a local shop recommended he move hem since they are releasing alot of hot air into his intake and engine bay..they told him hes losing a bit of powe(as im sure u know colder air=more power)..i could b wrong but im just going by word of mouth

This is the first I have heard of this...whats wrong with OEM? I always try to use OEM parts whenever possible.


I have no idea what whp it is putting out. I am on a stock block so its only running about 6.5 psi. The stock 245 rubber will spin every time when the boost hits in 2nd on a dry road in a straight line. I wouldn't be surprised if it went high 12s at the strip.

how hard is it to remove the oil filter, from the pics looks like that pipe is in the way

Actually the pipe just clears it. I can still get a filter wrench on the end of the filter. Once it is unscrewed it comes directly off. The hard part is that I now have to remove the undertray every time I want to change the oil, since that pipe is in the way. That involves about 20 or so fasteners

+1 on OEM filters thats what I use, or amsoil.

Nice work on the wrenches I might have to copy you, My engine is out of the car for my rebuild but its nice to tighten things after a few heat cycles.

yea, i see

the undertray is not that bad, lol 20? i lost a bunch thru out the years. more like 12-15 max

If your blow off valve is heating the air in your engine bay you have bigger problems than BOV placement. Moving a BOV will not give you colder air your BOVs release the air going to your throttle body after it went through the intercoolers and I doubt it is hotter than the air coming through the radiator that it sits beside. If you are unsure of this go drive your car for 30min then go touch your intake pipe then touch your radiator, report back which is hotter.

What does a BOV do? When your throttle closes it causes pressure to build in your intake trac because the turbos/SC have pushed the compressed air into the intake track when the throttle closes it no longer has anywhere to go. The BOV releases the excess pressure so you don't get compressor surge in your turbos/supercharger.

PS don't allow that shop to even change the oil in your car if they don't know what a BOV does they shouldn't be working on FI cars.
