hey. did a search for what plenum spacer to go with the vortech kit. now been reading about guys on here that are saying the kind to go with is motordyne. i'm askin what one 1/2 inch or 5/16 also there are several different ones. I have a 06 rev-up with the vortech tuner kit, i just got the 2.87 pulley that im goin to b puttin on along with 600cc injectors then retuned. my thing is do i do this and what one should i go with? Just dont want to keep gettin retuned. Any help would b great..... thanks!!!

 

most people going FI take out the spacer. just one more place to have it leak. plus if you want some substantial gains, complete new setup would be best aka not stock plenum.

 

really? thxs.. I was just goin by what the tuner said. I mean he wasnt lk yea yea do it, but he said it wouldnt be a wast of money. i've heard it wouldnt do much but just wanted to get some fresh feedback before i did it... Thaxs not goin to wast my cash......

 

Go with cosworths plenum

 

the risk of leaks is probably not worth it for the small incremental gain over what you'll see with the vortech & 2.87 pulley. fwiw, you can look at the APS tallboy, Kinetix (the one that looks like an OEM plenum), or Crawford plenums since they are slightly taller than the OEM manifold - basically like having a built-in spacer.

First of all, the stock plenum does not even come with a spacer. There is nothing to remove.

Second, there are performance improvements to be realized with a spacer. The dyno graphs are available in the My350Z forum if one takes the time to look for them. I personally have not heard of a properly installed plenum spacer leaking. I achieved 584 RWP with mine at something like 14 psi of boost.

Third, I started with a Motordyne 5/16" plenum spacer, and it worked well. Eventually I upgraded to a Cosworth plenum. It is beutiful and does offer some further performance increase for serious FI cars. After buying it and using it, other than for the looks, I am not convinced it is the best investment for increasing hp unless someone is shooting to go well north of 700 whp. Like I said, I have one, and I love the way it looks, but as far as pure functionality, the money spent on it can be used elsewhere for greater bang for the buck.

In summary, my vote is to go with a 5/16" Motordyne spacer, or an equivalent 5/16" spacer. That particular width seems to offer a very nice balance between mid and high rpm torque.

They must not have been installed properly. Solution - use a good installer and a quality plenum spacer. If you install it yourself, read the directions first.

I actually increased my boost at one point to 16 psi, and again, no leaks. A Voretech will not produce anywhere near these boost levels, so the OP will be fine with a Motordyne plenum spacer, and probably any of the other quality plenum spacers.

 

True, I’ll bet any leaks are a result of improper installation or a faulty product perhaps…
My brother has been running a PowerLab spacer along with his PowerLab GT35R and for about two years no leaks…a friend is also running the PowerLab spacer with a Vortech supercharger & upgraded pulley, no leaks for him either...I’ll be running the PowerLab spacer along with my recently acquired PL GT35R kit.

Yeah Dan don't do it you will probably break off all the bolts installing it.. Lol

 

lol, went to put my intake on after i put the injectors in and the f**kin torque wrench was broke.... good thing i tested it out on the Dragon Wagon (95 escort wagon) lol... yea man broke a fender bolt of it. thank god i tested it before i broke a intake bolt on the G....

 

On that note, should have gotten a big single turbo or twin turbo then…
