Gauges // DVD player install

Well, I've been talking about it for a long time, and now here it is. I would have taken pictures with everything turned on, but once step at a time. I still have to hook everything up which hopefully I'll get done this weekend. I have NO idea what I'm going to do with the DVD player. I have a Pioneer GEX-P7000TV that I am going to use for the video, but audio is still a mystery. I have SAT, so PAC is out, I think I am going to try and convert the audio output to balanced and then 'steal' the input line from the SAT when I want to watch a DVD.

I'm also still waiting on getting my two bungs welded in. I'm going to weld one at 10 o'clock for my AEM wideband and then I'm going to weld another somewhere else for dyno purpose.

Hope you have a data logger to keep an eye on those gauges. How are you going to check them while boosting? Looks cool though.

Re: Gauges // DVD player install

Honestly the car is running like sh$t. It doesn't start very easily anymore (I ordered new plugs). I just got my new pistons this week though, so there is light at the end of the tunnel.

Once the car is tuned right constant monitoring of the guages won't be totally necesarry. I CAN see the gauges while driving. I don't ever get on the car, its more for show then anything. I think I'm going to make a custom LED readout for the A/F just in case, especially since my fuel regulator likes to creep down on me.

Re: Gauges // DVD player install

I finally got my O2 sensor installed and, while it is possible to quickly glance down at the guage occasionally it is still a bit inconvient (but I won't change it because I love the way it looks, and there arn't any better stealth spots.)

I think I came up with a solution - I am going to try to use the throttle position sensor to trigger a circuit that will monitor the analog output of the guage. If it gets too lean it will light up a small red LED. By using the throttle position sensor to enable the circuit I won't have to worry about seeing the light when I don't care about the readings. Thoughts?

FYI: www.widebandcommander.com Gives you the led option based on A/F.

Too many mods to list… Complete Web Site

Re: Gauges // DVD player install

I had never heard of that solution, thanks for sending the link! But, for $500+ dollars it seems a little steep, especially considering I already have a wideband, and it took me 2 months to install it! Traveling all the time makes it very hard to get anything done... I take it you have the wideband commander and that is how you did your LED setup? I am trying to come up with a way to have only 1 LED and have it only come on when I'm at WOT and my a/f is too lean/rich. At that point I can check out the guage and see whats going on. I think I could build the circuit I have in mind for under $20 and I think it would work perfectly, I just have to sit down and right all the damn code!
