Question on vortech Sc on 03.5 AT sedan with mechanical fan
Hi guys, I been searching the forum and couldn't really get a solid answer so though open new thread and see if anyone have the same kind of car like mine.
I'm new to FI so bare with me
I'm buying vortech Sc with 3.12 pulley and according to seller it came with everything ssbox and inline 255 whatever that is. It came off 04 G coupe MT.
Ok the first problem I found out from vortech site that it might not work on AT and have to use Manual mode all the time because of rev limiter.
Second, my mechanical fan is on the way but according to vortech site:
**Vortech does not support installation of these systems on vehicles with automatic transmission. Some systems may bolt-on to automatic transmission equipped vehicles, however, the transmission may need to be in manual shift mode to avoid engaging the rev limiter. The G35 sedan system will not bolt onto Automatic models. At minimum, a custom supercharger discharge tube (not available from Vortech) would be required to clear the mechanical fan. Charge air cooler mounting is possible, but complicated by the addition of a front mount electric fan.**
I'm keeping the mechanical fan and decided to make custom superchage dischage tube from someone.
Aight the question is this, what else do I need to make sure my motor not blown just because this is going to be my daily driver and probably only boost it to 6-7 psi max.
Here is what I have currently on car
*MD 5/16 ISO Copper Plenum Spacer
*NGK step 1 colder spark plugs
*earth grounding
*AEM CAI
*Resonated MR test pipes
*HR 350z y-pipe
*G coupe midpipe
*custom axle back muffler
here is the list what's coming:
*Vortech SC kits
*Shif Kit
* (what do I need next??)
another thing for installation, went to Intense Power here in AZ asked for quoted they said $2200 minimum to install and about 1 week and half to finish but not include with tuning (I think gotta double check). Is this sound normal for that price to install sc???
I'm gonna stop by at UMS and talk to Tony probably today and see what they are going to quote me.
thanks guy
Here is what the update sorry for the delay .. So I decided to bought oil cooler, trans cooler, shift kit upgrade and E-fan conversion + the switch box.
Just got back from UMS tuning and my car will not be done today because the Transgo Shift kit upgrade is not install yet and some other stuff so it will be monday ... but here is more pic as you can see in the front where they mounted intercooler on the bottom, oil cooler on the top and trans cooler on the side

Vortech install is around 10 hours if you're experienced plus the time to make the custom pipe, $2200 sounds about right, maybe a tad on the high side. They probably want to buffer the time it takes to fabricate the pipe.
I was warned of the same thing when I installed the Vortech on my 5AT, they told me to use the manumatic mode all the time but that is not true, the only time I used the MM mode was when I really pushed the car hard as it will hit the rev limiter before shifting to the next gear but for daily driving it is fine to leave in auto mode.
The best thing to do is get the rev limiter raised so it does not hit as much and I would also recommend a Valvebody upgrade for quicker shifts.
Just search as there is a ton on Vortechs on 5AT's and what is best to do.
Look into oil coolers and torque convertors also.
Price; Well I paid 800 for my install without tuning.

Still looking for oil cooler and trans cooler.
now torque converter ... where to get this???
see that's what I though the price would be somewhere around $1000-1500 but not over $2. I understand that mine is totally different than yours since you don't have mechanical fan right but I mean to make a piping cost $500+ ???? To replace the Mechanical to Efan is only cost $300-/+ and install it my self.
Any other suggestion what do I need to get? I'm trying to get everything ready by the time I got the vortech so can have it install right a way.
Search for edge racing TC.
The price is something I can't answer as me and a buddy did the install we did not go with a shop as they do charge a lot more.
I see that you have most of the parts required the only thing I did not see is upgraded injectors.
