Get blown or blow up?
My build plan for 2030 - Can somebody help me?
Figured I would throw that in before I get slapped with the noob vid.
Here is the deal, I have been doing some research and here is where I'm at.
I have a 2004 G35 with roughly 75k mi. I just picked up and have in my possession a full polished Vortech V-2 supercharger with 10k miles on it. I am sending it in to get rebuilt to be on the safe side. I also got with the kit the GTM pulley kit mod, 550 RC injectors with clips brand new, Walbro pump, catch can, 2.87 Pulley & Belt, triple gauge pod, Oil Pan spacer, colder iridium plugs, etc.
If I install the Vortech, I plan to ditch the FMU, inline fuel setup and SS box that came with this kit. I would opt to use the Walbro, injectors, add UpRev MAF, and have XactDyno in AZ who is a certified UpRev tuner do the tune, I already have an NA tune from Uprev and the license on the ECU, so would be cheap. I already have a JWT clutch and flywheel.
Items I plan to buy, Innovative Wideband, Defi Boost, Defi Oil Pressure gauges, and an oil cooler.
The car is mostly a daily driver, used on weekends a day or two on the week.
From my research on the 350z Vortech thread, 2.87 pulley could be considered safe with a good tune. However, other forums said the DE motor is weak, and the VQ rods cant handle much.
So My questions:
1. With 75k mi on the motor, is it not worth adding FI? Does all depend on the tune, or is it a crapshoot?
2. Should I go boost, but use the stock pulley and not opt for the most HP with the 2.87?
3. Throw it all on and get good tune?
4. Should I sell the kit and the car and buy a new 350z?
I know most of this has been beaten to death already, but figured some could chime in with their thoughts. Thanks for all the help.

Thanks for the input Jay. I uninstalled this kit wen I purchased it, and wasn't that hard. I'm planning to possibly install the kit with a friend who is pretty well mechanically inclined, and the tune would be $400 if I have the UpRev MAF. Xact said Stock/other MAF would too many hours to dial in.

I didnt know you were going to install, that should save you a lot.. I removed/installed my 1st FI kit (procharger) with no instructions..
True, Im just telling him it prob wont be 3-400.. And expect that to change.. If it doesnt great.. But didnt want that "should be a cheap tune" to stay stuck in his head..

If I could do FI all over again....
... I WOULDN'T! Put your money elsewhere. Unless this just isn't a stretch for you, then by all means have fun. I love my G, but loved it more before FI. I would keep saving for a built engine, then you can "beat on it all day and not worry"... more so than you can with the dinky stock rods...

Damn guys, nice way to rain on the guys FI parade. 
6MTG354ME - Looks like you have done your research and have a pretty good plan laid out for yourself. You also understand the weaknesses of the VQ, especially the DE. There really is not much that we can tell you that you don't already know. You could have a good engine, do an immaculate install and have the best tune that money can buy and the motor still might blow. That is the nature of going FI. If you have the means to rebuild your engine if it blows, then I say go for it. If not, definitely save up for a built block before you go FI. Like Jay'Z said, right when you think you have spent enough, something else comes up. Being FI is so much fun but it is also a pain in the a$$ at times too.

I don't agree with that statement.. With low boost/power and a safe tune the car will be safe. Yes it could still blow up, but honestly it is not that common.
I'm right around 40k boosted miles with 5 track days and daily beatings and my motor is still intact.

As you can see, there is a wide variety of setups all on stock blocks and a wide variety of results. With a good install and a good conservative tune, you should be fine. With my setup, I could have easily pushed over 400whp but because my G is my DD, it was tuned consevatively just under 400whp and 330tq. I am now going on 3+ years blown.
Yes I do have a revup but if you don't push the DE over that 400whp/400tq threshold, you should be okay.

lets say u keep your stock 40k miles ok, you stop at a gas station get some bad gas.. EMS cant detect. Suddly u gettin some pingin and what comes next det then boom. Our HC engines can only take so much. reason why i say go build is cause i have seen alot of issues come off DEs even with my engine with the cracked gaskets inside the timing case oil leaks like crazy. My eng def wouldn't last a stock FI set up at the least. Thank god i planned this the right way.
