if you had a backfire and the car is ideling rough! there is a major chance that you have couple of blown pistons due to detonation. when at idle does your car shake? how big of a backfire was it?

 

The problem is....#4 cyl. is shot . There is a small thin chunk out of the cyl. right on the edge of the cyl. . The plug was ok , but had no gap . The dealer used a scope to look inside . They let me look inside to see it . They said there are scatches on the walls , but I didnt see them . Its tuff to see any thing with that scope .So Im looking into a short block from,SGP racing ....Bill

Booger, this is NOT good news! Yesterday I dropped my car off to get a Vortech dropped in. Please tell me what you did differently aside from how the kit came from Vortech. I plan to keep the Vortech packaged spec and I am wondering if I should worry about this too?

You will be fine.....I had put on smaller pulleys....and pushed it a little to far on the timing . I was running 9.5lb's boost at 7,000rpm

FYI Randy, it's my understanding that the Vortech supplied mapping may not run right right out of the box. There's rumors of them running EXTREMELY RICH and retarding WAY too much timing. You will need to modify it to optimum A/F and timing curves. It's sometimes bad to run too safe as it is to run too lean. It's not necessarily bad for your motor per say, but the injectors and few mileage.

Gspot....email sent....DWF350Z..did you get the car back ? Injecter working good ? I didnt have boost spike . I was getting to the 1/4 mark in 3rd just at 6,900 to 7,000rpm and at 7,000rpm @ 9.5psi

My car will not be back for another freakin 2 weeks. The other guys insurance just visited the body shop and work begins tomorrow. On the good side everything was running fine with R4 managing the RC550's. I will let you know..
