Non-Aero Sedan Bumper For Intercooler?
Non-Aero Sedan Bumper For Intercooler?
i'm looking at picking up a s/c for my non-aero sedan, but i don't want to get the "honda looking gialla kit", or pay $3000 + install for the impul kit either. will the non-aero bumper let the intercooler breath enough? what are you sedan f/i guys doing for this. also, how on earth to you put an fmic on a coupe w/o an aftermarket bumper? or would it not be worth it to get an intercooler?
Re: Non-Aero Sedan Bumper For Intercooler?
The "regular" sedan bumper is definitely better than the aero kit as far as letting air into an FMIC. I drove around that way for sometime w/o problems per se, but I finally decided that more air would be better so I bought the Impul front bumper (just the front--not the sides or back), painted the non-aero side sills and bought an aero rear spoiler to match.
Sometimes I like the look of the Impul front bumper, sometimes I don't. I think the Sportec bumper would look better but I couldn't find a source for one.

Re: Non-Aero Sedan Bumper For Intercooler?
zimbo - that front end looks awesome, where did you get just the front bumper from - bulletproof? how long was the wait? and what did you mean by "more air would be better"? were you referring to just performance, or were you concerned with running safely to prevent predetonation?
Re: Non-Aero Sedan Bumper For Intercooler?
I got the bumper from Bulletproof. It took a couple of months to arrive from Japan.
By "more air is better" I meant that I think that reducing the temperature of the intake air means better all-around performance and potentially safer. I have NOT done actual temperature measurements, though.
