Best Tune for DD-UTEC OR Osiris?

KMech7 and I are in the process of completing my Vortech install. I was originally planning to going to go with UTEC and already purchased the unit but after reading various forums and talking with people, it appears that Osiris is a better tune for a DD. I will be running the 3.33 pulley to keep things on the safe side as the G is very much a DD. My number one goal is to not blow up the engine and drive the G for many years to come.

Can anyone chime in on whether Osiris is much better than UTEC for a DD? I've read the technical manuals for both units and can say that the Osiris appears much more advanced in control and detail, however I do not know how this applies in practical terms like reliability and driveability. Is it worth the extra cost?

I would go with the osiris as it seems to give better driveability then the utec at least thats what i have read on my350z.com.I am about to get rid of my utec and go qwith the osiris.

I'll be dumping my split second box for Osiris sometime soon. I actually already have it and am using it for my 6MT conversion, but tuning it for FI will be later.

if longevity is your number one goal, a properly installed and tuned UTEC will let you sleep a little better.

For example, the UTEC monitors for knock throughout the entire RPM range where Osiris stops monitoring above 5k.

Furthermore, the UTEC can pull timing only during knock where if Osiris detects knock, you are kicked permanently to a 'bad gas' map which is basically limp mode until you can pull over and restart it -- imagine that happening at the track LOL.

Furthermore, Osiris provides no kind of overboost detection. There are work arounds such as dumping fuel above certain load points but its not as affective as cutting fuel completely until the overboost situation clears.

Oh and don't forget the HPX MAF you're going to need with Osiris in FI situations ($500+?).

Both technologies are going to have issues with large injectors -- it's not limited to the UTEC because in both cases the stock ECU is controlling fuel during startup.

As for drivability it really comes down to the attention to detail on behalf of the tuner. I've got zero drivability issues with my UTEC setup and I like having the added safety.

But above ALL, an improperly tuned UTEC isn't going to provide any extra safety. The tuner absolutely HAS to know how to properly adjust the knock detection parameters through trial and error, as well as all of the temp compensation and other protection mechanisms. Make sure your tuner has plenty of experience with whichever platform you choose.

My $.02, ymmv

I paid $250 for the HPX MAF, and didn't have any trouble with 650cc injectors. I also know a guy who is tuned with Osiris on 800cc injectors with no problems. Hot starts fine, idles fine, etc.

I'll take Osiris over a piggyback any day.

I think the Osiris is going to handle bigger injectors better because it can access the open loop a/f tables that the UTEC cannot. I suspect that's why the UTEC has a hard time with warm starts. This also allows the Osiris to tune for closed loop situations (ie.. part throttle) that the UTEC has a hard time with.

But it would be nice to have the Osiris access an oem boost reading function
