Got my Vortech'ed G back and...
Got my Vortech'ed G back and...
The car sounds amazing! They put in on a dynapack there at the install shop and it put down 340rwhp (300ftlbs) to the wheels. The A/F was between 12.2 abd 13.09...not happy with this but it was expected since I have hi-flo cats and Injen exhaust. I have a tune day next Thursday and I plan to have him tune it based on getting the A/F in the high 11 range, even if it means I give up a few ponies. Any suggestions on how I can get my A/f down AND retain my ponies? I also plan to retard the timing 1 degree for every pound of boost above 2psi abd 2 degrees at the top (for a total of 8 degree at 8psi). This was recommended by many other Vortech owners.
One question I have is, should I be afraid to open it up with my current A/F numbers. I've been shifting at 3500rpm just to play it safe until I asked this question.
2 G or not 2 G, there's no question!

Hey Randy...Its very strange that your A/F was that high out of the box . I have headers , RT cats , true dual exhaust ,and crawford plenum at the time of my install . Like most all my A/F was in the low 11's high 10's . The timing you described is a very good safe way to go .Have some fun...go kick some V8 a$$
Couldnt afford it when young...gonna play when Im old

Do not push the car or boost over 3-4 psi right now. Your a/f is way lean. You will gain hp once they get the a/f right. It's so lean now you are going to have very excessive heat in the exhaust and the heat is going to rob power from you.
I thought you weren't going to have it tuned, and Vortech ships ready to go out of the box. j/k
Just be patient until Thursday, and if they can tune to 11.5:-11.8:1 your car should make 360+ hp. The timing you have set is a little cautious but if you feel better about it than stick with it. If it were me, I would take the map from 3-8psi and increment 1 degree per psi starting at 3psi. So at 8psi you would pull 5 degrees. Then do 6 at 8.5 psi, then 10-12 degrees around 9psi and up just incase you over-rev. The R4 will auto fill your entries. Let me know if you want help with this.

The dyno you were on ..... The O2 sensor may be off to and giving false readings . To bad you dont have a wide band hooked up to compare with
