Probably more like 3.5k-4k with that kit but either way... they are annoying unless you're putting down serious power with a built block IMO.

Well technically they are building boost the second you get on the gas.

Even when mine made full boost at 3200rpm, open dumps were never annoying. Your exhaust willl probably drone way more than the open dumps will make noise anyway.

The waste gates don't open when the turbos start spooling but when they are near full boost. So if run 7psi they will be open soon, however 20psi and it will take a little longer for them to open.

I have open dumps now and I think it's way too loud. HKS knock off exhaust is loud enough when I get on then the dumps open up. I'm all for loud but that is too much even for me. Going to be changing soon.

Just picked my ride up this past weekend with open dumps. Maybe its because I like to drive with the windows down, but they are way too loud for me.....maybe I'm just too old.

Check out this thread:

Might try a couple....

I have a 20G on my STi with open dump and love it because I can drive normal up to around 4-4.5k rpm but then anything past and that's when I usually hit full boost (21 psi) and they sound like god.. So it's very manageable and controllable.

But on a TT g hitting full boost much sooner in rpm ranges of daily driving I'd think it would get annoying... Even tho they sound good it would happen sooo often

^^^Thanks for the effort.....BUT....do you think this accurately represents the volume of Open dumps? If so....I must have a loose pipe or two in my exhaust. Mine sounds like the gates of Hell have been wrenched open.....while I'm driving with my windows open.

Open dumps even tho they have a peculiar sound and definitely intimidating, they got old for me very quickly it's just annoying to try to listen to ur radio or ur passenger or even just the exhaust note of ur twin turbocharged car. BUT ALL U CAN HEAR IS PHHHHAAAGRGRGRGRGRGRGRGRGRG!!!

Recirculated: I prefer the quiet "sleeper" status.
