vortech potential?

I'm a noob in japanese cars, I bought a 2004 g35 5at and I am in the process of buying a v3 eo because I live in la. My question is if I stud it, cam it, port it, can I reasonably make 450 or more to the wheels? I have a history of making it on cobras, ss, lightings, pontiacs. I like do all my own work with the exception of porting and dynoing. ( my buddy owns a dyno- supertuning van nuys. Thank you in advance. Ps daily driver.

Search is your friend. But yes it is possible, I know of one guy who did it with his 350z (same drivetrain in case you didn't know noob...) But unless I am mistaken he ended up throwing a rod out of the block. For longevity 400 is about the limit.

A good read. GLHF

Sure you can make it and do it stock. How long it will last....

You can run 400 max (really 360-375) RWH with a stock motor and if you don't abuse it, it will last a while. This motor is already tweeked within an inch of it's life now. If you do what you suggested AND drop in some 8.5:1 (stock is 10.5:1 and that is not the best for FI) pistons, you would have a keeper.

If you stoke it out and use a 2.87 pulley with a 928 impeller you should be able to hit 500. You may shred belts tho

Thank you, I plan to change the rods and lower the compression. So it possible, I guess my next question does anybody cog it so no slip, and have any reasonable water to air cooler setup?

if you're dead set on vortech, you can stick with stock compression or lower it slightly. you won't see full boost as early as you would with turbos and you don't want your car to feel like a dog when just puttering around town. most folks opt to run the 3.12 pulley which is good for 9-10psi on a stock block non-revup. aftermarket cams & headers will help you attain higher power levels at a given amount of boost than you would with stock cams & headers.

my full built engine, ported heads, 264 cams, headers, test pipes, full exhaust, 9:1 compression, haltech and all the other goodies on straight pump gas only pulled 451hp on injected performance's DD dyno.

Their DD dyno reads low so on a DJ dyno it should be slightly higher.

oh ya, vortech Sc trim, 2.87 pulley with GTM pulley mod.

ya i did 460 on a dyno dynamics as well with an unopened stock motor with a V3/2.87 on pump/meth. I was injector limited.

PharmD did like 550 on the dynodynamics with a T-trim on meth with bigger injectors.

going to a bigger ysi blower and you could make well over 650whp on a typical dynojet, but would probably need to go a 8 or 10 rib serp setup to make much more than that.

instead of lowering the top pulley to a 2.87 make your crank pulley larger with one of the ati or fluidampr pulleys then the top one will retain the surface area and it shouldn't slip so easily

A dyno dynamics reads about 10% lower then a dynojet, so you guys would probably putting down around 500whp on a dynojet or little more.
