Where are you located? The cost is very dependent on if you want to cut corners or not? There was a guy on here that argued he could do it for under $20,000 he had new issues every time he tried a half a$$ upgrade then he blew his engine and threw in the towel at the low 400Whp mark What parts do you have now? Do you have a turbo kit already? If not a twin kit is aprox $7,000 a stand alone EMS is around $2,000, depending on how crazy you go with the engine $6,000-8,000 fuel system $2,000 a clutch good ones are $2,000 plus tuning $1,000 then you have extras like cooling mods a big rad, a pathfinder cooling mod, a nismo thermostat you can get slim fans it goes on and on new axles, oil cooler, ceramic coating turbos and pipes, gauges, exhaust, a cosworth intake, methanol injection that stuff can add up to $5,000 pretty quick.
So on the low end $20,000 if you are paying a shop to do all of the work I would guess you are well over $25,000. Those prices are all off the top of my head and low quality parts may be found for cheaper but even if you cut a few corners and get some lower quality parts with a shop doing the labour I would budget for a minimum of $20,000 rarely have I seen a shop quote low or a build cost less than expected so if you budget for $20,000 and it costs $15,000 great but if you budget for $15,000 and it costs $20,000 now you are trying to come up with an extra $5,000....not everyone has an extra $5,000 sitting around so then your car could end up 3/4s built until you come up with the extra cash.
Like I said that is off the top of my head and from my experience some argue because it is not what they want to hear but it is reality. If you go with used parts you can knock off a lot of cash but you can end up spending a lot more to fix someones used junk, I bought a used 3.8L engine with next to no miles and only low boost as soon as i put high boost to it it blew a head gasket, it broke a cam do to a faulty install, i got everything fixed and was on the dyno and a sleeve dropped it has cost me so much money to fix all of the ***** ups I could have bought a new engine that was as crazy as they come!! So be careful about that as well and used turbo kits are fine but Garret turbos are close to $900 to rebuild so it is easy to buy used stuff and end up paying more than new in the long run.
