Vivid Racing lists the Model No. as 21200-RSZ30

http://www.vividracing.com/catalog/n...z-p-19753.html

I'm not sure if that is their M/N or Nismo's M/N. Vivid Racing states that delivery is 30-90 days.

2 1/2 years ago they were hard to come by. I searched the Internet like crazy to find one in stock. I eventually did, I just can't remember where.

The question is why does he want it. It has a purpose, but that purpose is so narrow that it really isn't necessary for most people (which probably includes me even though I have one).

honestly, no - he probably doesn't need it. i've defended the nismo t-stat ad nauseam, but i just don't see it being worthwhile unless you have a specific reason to open up the t-stat a little sooner / close the t-stat a little later.

fwiw, the pathfinder mod is just to get coolant to a part of the block that doesn't normally get coolant. it doesn't make the engine run cooler overall, but it does address a potential hot spot.

Well thats why I'm glad somebody chimed in....The nismo opens at 155 temp. from what I hear. Correct me if I'm wrong the motor will be running a bit cooler if thats the case right? Also do I have to change the whole housing? Can't I just change the stat?

I was planning on using a regular thermostat on my build
I actually went with the HR thermostat only because it removed the nipple
on the thermostat housing for when you are removing the factory oil cooler
and putting in a aftermarket.

There really is no need for the Nismo T-Stat

I'm also using the Pathfinder mod/Koyo R-Core Rad/HR mod on the block with HR headgaskets

It only comes as the whole piece in the housing I am not sure if it can even be removed.

So now for the pathfinder mod housing are you running a regular T-stat or a Nismo one or wide open?

The motor wont necessarily run cooler the T-stat opens sooner allowing the water to start cooling sooner how ever that dosent mean the engine will in turn run cooler i am sure it will help a few degrees but your water will only be as cool as the radiator can cool it too. By opening sooner the T-stat allows the water to flow through the rad when it is cooler hoping by doing this the water will stay cooler and this will work for awhile on a drag or time attack track but daily driving or road courses eventually the water will heat up and only be cooled as much as the rad can cool it. So if you want cooler water temps a more efficient rad will help more than anything else as that is what actually allows the water to cool down more than an OEM one. The Nismo T-stat is like getting a head start in the race it will allow the water to start cooling sooner but depending on what you are doing eventually you will catch up to the same peak temperature you had before you added the Nismo stat however if you are doing time attack or drag racing it can help you as you are only on the throttle/heating the engine up for short periods so the peak temp might not get as high as it does when the thermostat opens later??.

As someone said above the pathfinder mod allow coolant to exit at the rear centre of the engine, in theory with out it the opportunity for a hot spot occurs i haven't seen any real data to support this though, if there is i would like to see it! So again your water temperature overall will not be cooler by running a pathfinder mod.
All of this being said i do run both a Nismo thermostat and a pathfinder cooling mod.....with Slim 12" fans and a PWR 52mm rad.
