FI Engine build put off

I called Procharger today to inquire about ordering the 24psi pullys they told me they had and found out that the highest boost they support for our cars is 15psi. That simply isn't enough.

I think I am going to abandon the supercharger and look into twi turbos. If I do decide to to with a TT setup I will have my Procharger up for sale and my Crawford headers..

As far as TTs go I know I don't want the greddy, too many poeple have it and I haven't seen anything impressive from it. I gess that leaves APS or PE..

Thoughts please.

Re: FI Engine build put off

i think you will start to see some nice numbers now from the greddys since people are starting to build their motors up. only time will tell on which kit is goin to make the most power. and i cant wait to see it.

Daniel

i wish my lugs would get here!!!!!

Re: FI Engine build put off

if you want all out power, definitely go turbo. did you ever consider going with a custom kit so that you don't have to end up upgrading equipment in the future?

If you are thinking crazy boost, which it seems you are, go for the TT. In for a penny in for a pound right?

Good luck on the mods kp.

Re: FI Engine build put off

Dan,

I think you might be on to someting. I did some research and there is more then one 500+ HP Greddys. I called them today and they told me they are capable of 22psi of boost, but we'll never see it because of our engine/fuel situations. My CR of my pistons is kind of high for high boost, but at the same time I will bet more hp from less boost so hopefully it will all work out (9.1:1 C) Nice sig logo, where is the KPtech logo?

lso, the Greddy intercooler is rated to 700hp so it should work well at hight boost. If there were only a way to keep the bumper....

Kevin,

Just for the record, I'm officially interested in your headers. Give me a PM with the details.
Also, the window roll up module is still working like a champ!

Re: FI Engine build put off

Actually, they were all Zs. But, there is no reason why if it can be done on a Z it can't be done on a G

Re: FI Engine build put off

Neffster,

I'll keep that in mind. My mind isn't made up 100% yet but I am definately leaning towards the tt setup. I just wish I could get the performance out of the ATI that ATI claims you can. Why state that the compressor is capable of 24psi if they only supply pullys to 15psi?

Maybe ATI feels safer using a 1.6 Factor of Safety.

Kevin....What kind of HP are you looking to get ? and is this car your wanting to build going to be used for ? Street ? Track ? At 15lb's of boost you should be making upwards of 450whp to 475 whp

Couldnt afford it when young...gonna play when Im old

Re: FI Engine build put off

Its going to be my everyday driver street car. I'm looking for 600+ rwhp at full boost and race gas, but 500 or so on the street on pump gas.

My situation has changed quite a bit since I posted this. I bought a winter beater (02 Mini Cooper) and now I don't have to worry about building the 2nd engine I have in my garage, I can just fix the engine in my car as I won't need the car anymore. So now I have to decide if I'm going to hold on to my spare VQ or sell it! At the boost I want to run I think I already know what I'm gonna do...

Don't forget about my interest in your headers if you already know what you're going to do...

OK, the build is back on, after a slight delay. I think I have chosen to go with the Greddy tt, Aries 9.1:1 forged pistons (0.02 overbore), Pauter rods, Tomei cams?, stock crank, ARP head and main studs, and reworked stock heads. I'm going to go with RC fuel injectors to get enough fuel pressure. I'm not sure what engine management I'm going to go with. I have half a mind to build a custom system (the ultimate goal of KPtechnologies) but I have a feeling that will take more time then I have. So, I am leaning towards Emanage.

Instead of building my spare motor that I bought I'm going to have my current blown motor fixed. I just bought a 2002 Mini Cooper for my winter car and every day driver so I no longer need my G. It can be torn apart all winter. This Spring though it better be ready to put down 550-600whp!
