Meth: bad for your teeth, good for your motor?

I wanna start this off with a simple question, before we get too deep.

Does anyone run methanol/water injection on a naturally aspirated motor? If so, do you have any noticeable positive effects with factual information to support them?

I understand how methanol works, and why it's used, I just want some real world feedback.

I suppose you could if you ran some extremely high compression ratios. Other than that, it wouldn't do anything.

jeff, that seems to be the general consensus. My dad has a 9sec 87 Grand National, so he knows a lot of people I guess you could say. I got to talking with Julio of AlkyControl one day, and he told me not to waste my money. That spoke volumes when a business owner would tell me not to waste my money on his product, because he didn't feel it would benefit me.

I've been thinking a lot about the cooler charge temps and knock reduction though...in theory I should be able to pull some more timing and tune for it and pickup some power. But, along that same thought process, tuning for even the simple mods I have would bring out some power. And, while on that thought process, tuning for just Meth sounds expensive!

I think it may be time for a bottle...

Just advancing timing doesn't always mean more power. The increase in power comes from the high compression ratio. (all other factors being the same)

Meth/water injection could lower intake temps and essentially give you some extra power by allowing you to increase timing but its not likely to be much, if at all. Definetly not worth the money you'd be throwing at it.

Nitrous on the other hand.... very nice. The bottles get expensive to keep filling because of the addiction it will cause but its a great feeling to have a boost in torque like that.

On a side note - water/methanol injection will clean the internals of your engine. I've seen the inside of plenums and they sparkle!

Willey, I'm thinking the same thing...bottle should be fun, though.

After I got beat by a Cobalt the other night, I decided it's time for some Juice
