Sent to CA state ref w/ my vortech

So I was driving 2 cars behind a cop in Davis ... went straight, he pulled aside, waited for me to pass and then he pulled back onto the road. Right when I was 50 feet from the shop I was headed to, he pulled me over. Said I had exhaust so I had to pop my hood. Long story short, he gave me a ticket because my "egr valve" was not connected which our cars dont even have because we have variable cam timing. After all of that occured, I went to the police station to file a complaint because of all the harassment and **** he said to me. They reinspected my car and found out my vortech is only for the 03-06 models which the carb is not effective for my car's year which is 2007.

so now i have to go to state ref for a false egr claim which i know they will also check the vortech as well. How can I get this legal? the kit fits the car without any mods other than the different belt size. Do i just tell them that the kit is for the vq35de motor ? a little help would be great...

Guess that will teach you for complaining . You should have caught a ride with a friend or parked a few blocks away. I would talk to vortech about the carb status of the kit that is your best bet.

well the ticket cited me for 27156 (b) cvc for the smog violation and he wrote "egr not connected". I told him how the vq35de engines uses the variable valve timing technology which creates the exhaust gas re circulation effect inside the engine. He simply used one finger to scratch the very top of his bald a$$ head, paused and disagreed not knowing what he just disagreed to. For the second violation is 24004 cvc which means he warned me and I cant drive my car on the street until it's fixed.

the cop actually followed me to the shop btw. I did get popped in sf for something else but the cop let me go w/ a front plate ticket.

I have my ways to get back at the cop today though. Since he's sending my car to inspection, I'm gonna send his a$$ to review cuz he obviously needs to be retrained. I got this egr vvt stuff all figured out.

He didnt cite me for the supercharger but he might write it in his report.

Sorry to hear, ref tickets are the absolute worst.

From my experience, they check everything at the ref, and regardless of what it says on the ticket, everything must be legal and pass before it gets written off. They will also check on the Vortech and see that your year is not part of the carb EO#. Whether it fits your engine or not, if your car is not one of the exact years listed on the EO#, it's not legal.

I fixed everything, passed the ref, went to court (which was mandatory on my ticket for some reason), and still had to pay a large fine. You might get lucky and the ref might miss something, but again, from my experience the ref was very thorough and checked everything. Hope it all works out.

The ref certificate/fees was $12, and the court fine was about $700.

Man that sux. One of the few reasons I love Oklahoma. No inspection. I understand its good that Cali is doing what they do but its starting to sound like they are going a little overboard.

Cant you just pay a fine that they send home to you? I had a boosted civic before and got a ref ticket, all i did was pay the fine of $480 and didnt have to go to thr ref. This happened to me twice until my third ref ticket i had to bring it in but i sold the car. This a while ago though things might have changed

I'm gonna get a lawyer and see what they say about it. I was only cited for "EGR not connected" which I can easily show to the judge stating that our vq35de engines do not have a egr valve. I hope that works as well..
