Cars says overheating, but its not.

Hello,

I have an 03 TT, in the last couple weeks, Ive been hearing a beep from the car. When I pull the navi screen up to see if it shows anything, it doesnt. Its been driving me insane..... Tonight when it beeped, the screen actually showed the car was overheating for a couple seconds and went away.

I had just started driving the car, its like 60-63 degrees outside and the temp sensor shows the usual middle between Cold and Hot.

It doesnt give me a CEL.... If it beeps, it will beep once or twice more during that drive - but most of the time when I drive it doesnt beep at all.

Has anyone encountered this before? Any thoughts on what it could be? Is it just likely a temp sensor going bad? I have heard that if it was the temp sensor, idle might be off - but it idles perfect.... Blah...

Any help is appreciated....

Are you driving any different when it does say it's overheating vs not? If your driving harder it could be that the OEM temp sensor is reading enough to cross the "overheating" low reading. Where the temp would never have gotten to with the car in stock form. With tt your making more power so more heat. But at 60 degrees i would expect that. I dynoed when it was 95 out with TTs and no overheating. Get a cipher log with coolant temp when it does the beep

Sorry, Whats a Cipher Log? =X

And disregard my original post lol... Car actually overheated today . I guess somethings just not communicating well, my navi screen would beep and tell me its overheating when the temp gauge showed it was completely normal... then all of a sudden this morning, I had just reached my office, which is a few miles from home and I checked my temp halfway to make sure it warmed up okay. When I was about to park, the beep went off, navi screen blinked overheating and I glanced over to the gauge to see that it was near H.

Thermostat or sensor... but now Im just curious why my navi picks it up but not my dash until today. Oh well.... =T

A Cipher log is the way the Osiris tuner get the log files.

It's awesome and well worth the money And I know the factory temp gauge has a large dampening factor on it to stop it from going all over he place, and this could be just a spike happening sometimes. But this time have stayed overheating for a little while. Not sure, hows the coolant level?

Doesn't our Cars OBDII give out coolant temps? You can buy a bluetooth adapter for 60 bucks and use it with your smart phone. Or a cheap USB cable and some software
