VQ35DE forged internals for FI (yes I read the n00b thread)
Hey folks, I'm getting in a G35 soon and I'll be looking for about 6-700 rw on a pump/meth mix. I'm new to the VQ but not to boost. I currentlt have a TT Z28 in the work but its only for going straight. I've got connects with Wiseco and Eagle components so I'm covered there. So my questions are related to the limits of;
Heads
Cams
Crank
Yes I read the newbie thread, It looks like the mentioned componets can do such, but I was wondering if anyone else what ran forgerd rods/piston with mostly stock componets
Just for kicks here's a run down for my OHV brute
Stock 4'' LSX Iron block bored .030 over
Wiseco -11 cc pistons (9.1 cr)
Eagle H beams with ARP 2000 Bolts
Stock Crank, polished and balanced
Stock Ported intake
Stock Heads
ARP everything
TH400 tranny
3.00 gears
Twin Turbonetics 6665s, .58 on the exhaust
With a manual trans that combo would make 900 rw on pump & meth, but since its a street/strip setup with a th400, dynos don't matter, should break 9s on e85

As i said before I run Pauter rods and Aries XD pistons they are the 100mm Forged Performance spec pistons basically a Subaru STi casting.
I have ported and polished heads with 1mm over size valves Jim Wolf springs and Jim Wolf C2 cams. People have made over 700whp with stock heads and a set of cams so head work and oversize valves are not required as the heads flow well from factory.
I have the oversize ARP head studs I think they are 13mm if I recall right. If did it again I would use ARP 11mm stock size L19 head studs.
If i were to do it again i would stick with 0.020 pistons 96mm instead of sleeving and going 100mm.
I have never heard of any pistons ever failing but rods often do. So Aries, Wisco, if you have big cash get some Cosworth pistons.
The rods Pauter and corillo are considered the higher end like other platforms. Eagle are the most common on these cars. i have heard of a few failing usually if you try going over the 800whp mark with eagles you are rolling the dice they may or may not hold up.
Also I have heard of Cylinders deforming if you are using and unsleeved block over 800whp, however the cases of sleeved VQ35 engines having failures usually due to in correctly installed sleeves is very high.
Stock cranks have been used on 1000whp builds so they are not really an issue.
With everything I said there is always the exception someone knows someone that made 2000whp on eagle rods stock heads unsleeved engine ect ect. But from what I have seen over the years the above is how I would do it if I did it again.
Good luck and let us know how it goes.

Check out GTM. I'm running their rods and love them so far. 480 gram rods rated @ 1600 ft/lbs of torque is pretty good! They mill their rods from solid 4340 chromoly, they arent forged.
They have some high end supporting mods you would probably be interested in also, some of which I haven't seen anywhere else.
I had importpartspro build engine to my specs. Best price (even with $600 in shipping) and they guarantee the engine for a year, even if you race it. Turn around was real quick also. I know of others in my area who used them years ago and engines are still going strong.

I agree with Sylvan Lake. Also, a billit girdle will add rigidity to the VQ block, and since you are building, does not add too much cost. There are a lot of builds out there with Eagle rods, and they seem fine up to about the 800 hp mark. I settled on Wiseco pistons. Nonethless, Wiseco, Arias and CP all are good pistons.
