Taking my 06 6MT to get Turbo'd next week!

I'm excited/nervous, but looking forward to it very much. Momentum Performance is going out of business, not because of their product but because of investor issues. Their kit looks awesome and I've heard nothing but great things, consistent numbers, and great reliability.

When I heard they were going out of business I started calling local dealers frantically, and none of them had anymore kits or could get anymore. But then I started calling shops in Wilmington, NC (where Momentum is based), and one of the shops said they could get it (several former Momentum employees work at the shop) so I decided to go ahead and pull the trigger.

Getting the full Momentum kit, Momentum Headers, and the Momentum Header back dual exhaust. They said I should expect at least 400hp/400tq

I have no idea what to expect, never ridden in a Turbo G or Z....

I've seen all of them multiple times, I had to keep watching them to prevent talking myself out of doing it (I paid $4k down a few weeks ago). I meant more I dont know what to expect in terms of driving it.

not to ruin your excitement but how does the dual header back exhaust connect to the single turbo downpipe? Both headers run into a collector that connects to the turbine housing so a header back exhaust system won't fit properly. Shouldn't you get the y-back type exhaust?

Wow this looks familiar.

I take it "the full momentum kit" includes a variety of supporting fuel mods and an Osiris license of some description?

I was told 400~ for the DE, but if you're revup you should be good for higher. 450 at the wheels sounds safe or at least conservative. Safe is always a relative term. I presume you're getting some clutch work done or have already?

National Speed Inc, but they said I got pretty much the last g35 kit momentum had, they had to order the 3rd party stuff that comes with the kit separately (tial BOV/wastegate, Garrett turbo)

I was just trying to help. Didn't want a shop to take advantage as they are trying to clear out their inventory.

I did look and based on your description of "header back dual exhaust" that's what I looked for and as is that system would not match up. I'm not talking about it being "true dual or not" I'm talking about the connection points to the headers or turbo downpipe. Header back, similar to cat-back specifies where it connects...so the header back system would connect to the driver's and passenger's side headers...but the single turbo kits have crossover pipes that connect the headers to the turbo.

I ask you to verify and make sure. But if you don't see what I'm talking about then...oh well. As long as you get it worked out.

I appreciate it man, I didn't mean for that to come off the wrong way. I'm pretty sure they said that the dual exhaust is prety much for aesthetics, although I think the header back does eliminate the cats, straight through all the way. They said its going to e pretty damn loud and I don't know how I feel about that. Any way I can quiet down the exhaust without losing to much performance?

Sounds like they got the left over piping from momentum. Those items all came with the complete and tuner kits. you may want to be careful they aren't putting in a cheap chinese knock off turbo

They are a pretty well-respected shop and have done quite a few Z's and G's, also several of the employees are former Momentum employees. How would i be able to tell the difference between the Garrett and the knock-off?

That's the exhaust, I'm not very familiar with the technical aspects of it, can you tell from that if it's a problem?

I kinda see what you're saying though, it's like the exhaust has 2 connection points at the engine, but with the turbo it looks like there is only 1 outlet, so there might be a piece in the exhaust that I don't need?

If you look at the ends where they curve up to the engine...that is where the issue is. There are 2 pipes going up that would go directly to the headers, factory or aftermarket.

However, if you look at a pic of the kit assembled on the motor you will see there is only one exhaust outlet now...the downpipe coming from the turbo.

Look at this pic. Hope this helps. In terms of the knock off turbo i'm not sure how to check. There was some thread on my350z. I didn't mean to scare you. The shop should do you right. If you get the turbo you may be able to call garrett with the numbers on the box to verify.

You're good, but yeah I was looking at that pic and figured out what you were saying, I'm not sure if I need that particular exhaust. It's strange that Momentum would sell it and suggest it's great for turbo cars but design it like that, but I get it now. I'll ask the people at the shop about it. Thanks for your help!
