How many miles reached on built boosted motors
My question is I have a greddy twin setup on a stock block. I am in preporation now for a built short block I plan on doing everything and not being a cheapo. But from what I am hearing some people are on ther third and even fourth build. I defiantly don't have that kind of time or money. So I guess what I'm asking is am just going to build this motor just to have it blow up faster than my stock block will?
How many miles have other members made on built motors????

All depends how it's put together, unfortunately even reputable high quality shops have fawkes ups, some guys get lucky some get owned. I know guys who've never even got a decent tune and drove around just fine and other guys who took every precaution and spent every dollar only to see it pop on the dyno. In the end it's a machine and machines fail

I think I've only noticed 2-3 people on the forums going through more than one built engine. Pretty sure the usual FI experience goes like this:
1) install FI
2) blow stock motor after 20K-40K at 6psi
3) install built longblock from GTM or IPP and bump it to 9psi
4) figure out tuning problems and other stuff for 6-12mos
5) if you stop modding here enjoy realistically for 50K without rebuilding the motor or turbos.
But no one stops modding or they track it so they either blow the engine going for more or trade to a different platform or they have to part out and sell the car.

im actually going to throw on my gtm tt stage 2 kit when i get back from the desert so i will let you know how long it lasts on my stock block. I already have all the parts just need to have it installed and then tuned, probably going to be done by Motiva Motorsports in Albuquerque since i am around the same elevation and it is only a few hours away.

Ya I'm at about 2000 miles on a stock block running seven lbs of boost at 385. I have a boost controller and sometimes I run 9lbs of boost making 440 sometimes not very often. I just don't want to sink all that money into my motor and have it blow up after two months.
