Forced Induction, questions!

Ok ive got a few questions for everyone!

First in some other forum I saw someone post something about the infinity dealership actually installing a supercharger and warrantying it??? Does anyone know anything about this??

Also, for the people that have gone SC or turbo what boost are you running and how many miles are on the engine since going FI. I wanna know how strong the engine is and if it can take the FI. RUnning about 6psi would be what I expect...for some decent HP gains...anyway thanks for the info ahead of time!

you might be referring to grubbs. they actually put fi and sell cars
not sure on the warranty.
i have a stillen s/c and run 5psi. stage 1 and 2 come with warranty. i've had over 2k since then. minor stuff like had to replace a pulley because the stock one is crap. also, had a minor issiu with the injen cai to go along with the intercooler. otherwise runs great. and it's been rather cold here in chicago

GfortheCPE...

It is InfinitI, not Infinity, but taht's neither here nor there. I would be very surprised that a dealer would warranty any kind of FI. I would be very careful of those claims; they will promise you everything at the time of sale, but when it comes time to pay $6000 for a new motor they will suddenly get amnesia. FI is a serious project, I should know first hand of it's downside potential... Once you install a super- or a turbocharger system on your car, it will always, always be BETA, period, no matter what others say. The only way to make your engine last 100000+ miles is to have engine components designed for the new performance parameters, i.e. forged internals, not exceeding the redline appreciably, etc... I almost want to say that if you are worried about reliability and FI, you should not get it. Nonetheless, the dealership that supposedly offers the warranty is Grubbs Infiniti in Texas.

I think that the ONLY two possible FI choices out there that stand a chance of causing no long-term damage on a stock engine is the HKS supercharger and the upcoming JWT TT system (as they offer only very modest power increases, about 100 hp over stock). Again, I am not saying that these will NOT cause damage, they only stand a chance of not doing so.

EDIT: Sorry..I think I should add Stillen stage II to the list above

man, good thing you caught the infinity...instead of infiniti otherwise id never be able to find a dealershiP!!!

Well I basically want the engine to be able to last at least 50-60k miles easy after FI, I plan to have the car more than a year....hopefully 5-6.

I just was wondering if anyone had reached about 20k-30k miles yet on their G with a SC or Turbo.

thnx

Miller Infiniti here in Socal say they warranty the Stillen stage II if its installed by them.... I was surprised to hear this but that's what they say.

And I've never heard of a Stillen stage II blowing up an engine. It seems they keep their performance gains modest enough to keep that from happening.

If I ever went FI the stage II would probably be my first choice. (simply for having a herritage of engine reliability) The Stillen cannot be tuned and this may be the reason they don't blow up. If they could be tuned people would be finding ways to crank up the power.

If I ever want more power than what the stage II offers, it's time to get different car.

Wouldn't mind driving a Viper!

Stillen Stage II is warrantied by Dell, a third-party cmpany that contracts with Stillen. Hence, as long as the kit is installed by an approved installer/dealer, it is warrantied!
