For a turbo setup, 3" exhaust or a true dual 2.5" exhaust?

true dual 3" mated to a G37 coupe muffler (modified for 3" inlet) sounds nice and quiet! Not sure about power level as I just got this set up. Will be dyno'd soon, with and without exhaust cut outs open.

There isnt at 3 inch made specifically for the g's/

I know aam did for the z(like you posted) and There was one more, I dont remember who,

I do have the aam 2.5 to 3 inch downpipes.

I have a sedan, and I my self couldnt see paying 1200 bucks plus money to mod it, so I went to a shop in socal that can mandrel bend.

I dont have any charts on had, but Ive seen our plat form, as well as hondas, made the post power with open downpipe,
then slightly less with 3 inch
and even slightly more less with 2.5

spool time was slower from each step as well

I am running kinetix test pipes right now so I believe they are 2.25in, so better than cats or hfc's in terms of air flow but when I get a new exhaust those will be replaced with something that is at least 3in.

I am not the best when it comes to all the different parts in between the the engine and the actual exhaust. I obviously want the setup that is going to give me the most gains.

I also emailed AAM Competition and asked them if it was possible for them to make the piping to fit the g. A couple of sites that sell the aam comp 3in true dual exhaust actualy would let you select for a 350z or for a g35. So I am confused as to if that is true or not.

Also the other company to do a 3in dual exhaust is APS, can't find any of those either. And apparently motordyne makes a 3in for the 350z.

Fast Intentions also makes a 3" called the Dominator. As far as test pipes/downpipes go 3" will need to be custom made.

Thanks man I will look into that for sure, i'll be going with at least a 3in downpipe with open dumps and external wastegates to replace my recirulating setup.

^Most people who run turbos don't have cats to begin with, the ones that do are using aftermarket ones with a lower cell count. The stock exhaust with just straight pipes is too small for decent gains.

Dual 2.5 is the better option imo. Single 3"will be louder and will flow less

Open dumps, 3" True dual.
My complaint... too quiet.. I had a custom shop make one based off from the stillen exhaust set up.
My exhaust is probably the one thing I love the most, monster 5" tips ^_^.

For turbo, go as big and as free as you can. I had electronic cut outs for a while and my tune was based on that. If you don't like a loud turbo car (which I didn't know was a thing) Then grab a pair of single chamber mufflers, and or do an X pipe... Or ****, just leave the Cats in.

In Cali, loudest isn't always the best. I know several people who own N/A G/Z's that were pulled over and had their car searched for illegal modifications just because they had loud exhaust setups. This state blows.....

Overkill. Has to be 0 performance gains over 3".

That's the way to go, find an exhaust that you like the sound / look of, and increase the piping size for your F/I... Best idea I've had on this project.
