OEM Turbo Kit Possibilities

I'm starting research on making OEM VQ30DET Turbo components work on the VQ35DE and decided to make this thread to post information to.

Exhaust Manifold:
The exhaust manifold with bolt right on to the VQ35. The only issue might be the steering column clearance.

Turbo
T3 flange turbo. Not much other info at this point. People in japan use this turbo on the RB they just swap housings. Must be a newer variant of the turbo used in RB's.

Injectors
450cc VQ30DET injectors swap right in to replace the VQ35 Injectors.

Intake/Intercooler/BOV/Piping
You can use either the VQ30 or the VQ35 Plenum. I am not sure which one would have better flow. Would have to compare the two.

An intercooler with custom piping will be the way to go. The stock stuff might work too but its hard to find in the US.

Engine Management
The VQ30DET ECU will not work. An aftermarket tuning option will be needed.

I will be updating this thread with more info and pictures of parts as I get them. A local importer has an complete motor swap for $1000. I am going to try to have them part out the turbo stuff since the maxima guys don't really use it.

The turbo looks like it is right where the steering shaft would run on a G, cool idea I hope you can make it work.

Double U Joint can always be done. We use it a lot on S chassis swaps. Makes everything a lot easier

Why not? Cheap, Reliable turbo kit for less than $1000.

Sorry to bump a dead thread guys.

DEMoLITIoN did you go any further with this idea man?
I live in New Zealand and am lucky enough to have these vq30det engines at arms reach. After looking online at the cost of the typical VQ35de +T i decided to start researching the same thing.

Apparently the RB25det neo motors from the R33 GTS25T Skylines run nearly exactly the same turbos also.

I doubt it. That kit was designed for the steering shaft to be on the other side. No room on a LHD.

You will need to go double u joint, but I don't have a project car now. I have my VQ s13, but I will need to mess with the firewall in order to get this to work. I'll try it next season.
