Cheers man. The only thing holding me back atm is the spare time otherwise it would already be underway. You are right though, the forums are very helpful when it comes to things like this. g35driver & SAU have been a huge help with the research others have done.

I have the stock manifold already and i think i will just rack the pieces up over time and then do it all at once.

After plenty of thinking and dwelling on the advice from a discussion on another forum about the constraints of welding/modifying cast iron manifolds i have decided to take a different path for the build.

The manifolds will not be modified. The turbo position is going to remain in the lower position like the VQ25DET & VQ30DET. This is now achieveable with the use of a HKS 3037 like the HKS Single Turbo kit. Surprisingly enough, HKS simply used the VQ25det manifolds for their kits Nice!

I found out more info on the HKS Single Turbo setup in the past couple of days and i plan to base my kit around theirs.

From what i can see from the kit it seems that this would be the best path to go down with some slight changes.

HKS Single Turbo Kit - 350z/G35 (approx 270rwkw-300rwkw)

The last thing i want to do is have to do this twice so im going to be spending a little more more money on the turbo and waste gate setup.

I will be keeping an eye out for a HKS 3037 or similar for the turbo. Seeing as they work well with the numbers im chasing, it is a win win.

Recalculating the build costs it looks more like this. Take into account this is with QUALITY core parts.

VQ30det manifold - $50 (purchased)
HKS 3037 Turbo - $700
Turbosmart OR HKS 60mm wastegate - $500
Intercooler & Piping - $400
Hoses/Fittings - $100
Deatschwerks Injectors - $300
Deatschwerks fuel pump - $155
Oil pan spacer - $180
Oil feed lines/Return lines - $125
Catch can setup - $80
Sparkplugs - $80
AM Radiator - $200
Genuine HKS BOV - $80

Approx. total before tune = $2,950 NZD ($2,430.21 USD)

That is less than what i have seen the Turbonetics kits going for
Not quite pennies but very reasonable for a supposedly reliable and well put together kit.

There are a couple of the things which you could strip back if you were wanting to be on a very tight budget:

Oil pan spacer - $180
AM Radiator - $200

Total: $2,570.00 NZD ($2,116.90 USD)

Time to get collecting!!!
