How effective is the intercooler on a Vortech full Kit ?
the reason I ask is that everything Ive read and my personal experience with intercooling
seems to indicate
1) it is really obstructed with a stock bumpered G35 and not right out in the air flow.
2) its not shrouded so most of the air flow will go around it rather than through it
3) not sure what the size is but with the 12 sq in per 100 hp rule of thumb it would need to be 4 square feet in area minimum.
has anyone actually measured temperature drop at 60mph (100kph) ?
Im sure it must be dropping the IATs but if properly set up it could do so much more.

The intercooler is fine for the power numbers you will get. If you have a coupe you could always upgrade the bumper to a kuruma. If you have a sedan you could try the '03, AWD, or kurookie bumper. I have an X, so the AWD bumper, and I haven't had any issues with the temp. The little opening passes air onto it although the surface area is small it gets it from the sides too. Regardless of direct airflow the intercooler will still radiate heat outward.
