HELP single Turbo 2004 g35

Just got a turbo installed on my car . My question is when I have the car parked not in gear and i rev the car up the turbo does not produce any boost to set the blow off vale when i rev it up. But when when I drive I get boost, because my buddy told me to rev my car up so the can he the blow of vale and nothing happened but is that normal i heard the BOV on other cars.

Your car won't build boost unless there is a load on the engine.

If your just tapping the throttle your BOV shouldn't move, if you want to see your BOV move you need to hold the throttle wide open for 4-5 seconds and it may move if not just let it bounce off the rev limiter for a 15-20 seconds if you really want to hear your BOV.
