Service Engine light question

So I have a 2004 g35 coupe that I just bought from a guy and the Service Engine light came on and I went by Auto Zone and they said it was the O2 sensor and also my muffler is off and he said it may have to do with that but the previous owner said he never had that light on. Do you think I should get Auto Zone to reset the code and see if it comes back on or just go to an auto repair shop and have them look at it and possibly replace my O2 sensor.

When that happened to me I had to fill the brake fluid. Also I read that it could be the gas cap.
