New guy Clutch question
Hi all,
New to the forum. I had a gretty tt setup installed over the summer and did the works bottom end build. 7psi and 470 rwhp. Long story short I had to replace the clutch and in forseight of the beast to come I got tha ACT unsprung race clutch, thought I could handle it
. Well its a real bear in traffic and I'm thinking of going back to a sprund hub. Anyone know how the Act sprung hub feels or know of a better clutch to go with. I'de like to get to the 700rwhp mark eventually but know I'll prob need a beefer clutch at that point.
Anyone near Boulder let me know.

I'm looking at the RPS sight and can't find a match for the g35 or 350Z. Is there another drive train that works with our cars? Also I noticed the carbonfiber clutches, pricey but they look like a good solution.
yeah, I actually have experience with the ATS and the RPS clutches. The ATS twin disc is an amazing piece of machinery. Twin disc full carbon floating face and lightened flywheel. The entire thing weighs 26lbs, and is easily good for 700-750ft/lbs of torque. Several of us on the 350Z boards are using these clutches with our built motors. Mine goes back into the car next week. Pedal feel is stock, and engagement is very very smooth. They are $2000.
The RPS street clutch and billet flywheel is a great solution for someone that wants a powerful clutch, but cant afford to spend $2K on a clutch. They are easily good for 550ft/lbs of torque...probably more since RPS underates their clutches. They are $900 for clutch and flywheel.
And i you are really on a budget, and have plans for about 450ft/lbs or so, then you could go with a Clutch Master Stage III clutch...no flywheel. They are about $550.
Let me know if you have any questions.

Thanks for the info. I already have 470 rwhp and am planning on upping the boost as soon as I get a new fuelpump and injectors. So I think the twin carbon is prob for me. How is the idle and tranny noise with such a light setup. As this is a daily driver that tends to be an issue.

...Looks like we have about the same setup only I rebuilt the internalls in the beginning. I'm thinking you should get some good gains from just the pistons(.020 Over?) Judging from my dyno numbers of 467 rwhp at 7 psi, and 487 rwhp at 8 psi(got too lean and the tourque droped off). And r u doing the cams as well?
--also I used 8.5/1 Cp Race forged pistons. Vs. the 9/1's your putting in. I'm not sure which is a better choice Let me know how you decided.

After I install my clutch, I can get a better review for you on the noise issue. Lightened flywheels by their very nature will be louder than stock. But that is a small price to pay, IMHO.
No cams for my car yet...seeing what the stock heads are capable of.
