Please look at your plenums!

Take a look at this picture. Notice the grime at the seal of the plenum. I'm wondering if the seal is leaking sucking belt dust up to the plenum. OR, the boost is pushing crap out of the plenum. Either way it doesn't look right. Please take a look under your hoods to see you have the same problem. I have more pictures if you want to see more.

Thanks

I've got the residue on my plenum. Just looked at the crawford sight. Is there much point going with the new version over my old one. I noticed they give you 200 trade in and I would rather have the popllished. Also I noticed this intake in import tunner

http://www.importtuner.com/features/...g35/index.html

Its a oneof but damn the thing looks sweet.

Craig,

Remove your plenum and see if that junk is on the inside. Do it now and report back! I'll check my plenum later on, however I seem to remember seeing something like that on my G too?

Craig, PM me your home e-mail address (once the PM system is up and runnng again). I have the pages from the FSM regarding the upper manifold cover and can send you the torque specs, the torque sequence, etc...

BTW, I think it's closer to 50-55 in-lbs if memory serves me correctly.

You can email me, craigbrickner@hotmail.com. I started some dialog with Doug from Crawford Zcar. He said we might want to try using brake cleaner to check for leaks. Basically run the engine and spray the seal. IF you see the fluid getting sucked in you have problems. If non of you have ever felt what your engine vacuum feels like at idle, you'd be suprised. It's pretty strong! Thanks, Neff for shooting the manual.

And *IF* that fluid gets sucked into your engine what happens? Bad idea IMO... Maybe hold a feather up next to the plenum and see if it moves one way or the other, but "just say no to fluid".

I'll send you the file later, I'm at Orlando Infiniti getting an alignment. I was here at 7:30 for my scheduled appt and it's 8:50 and my car's not on the lift yet.

A feather, that's creative! I don't know about you Neff! What are you doing with spare FEATHERS lying around!

From what I gather, brake cleaner is a general purpose liquid that does not harm your engine, or most other components of the car. Anyone have any other insight on this?

How about a throttle body cleaner? That should be ok.

Also, my wife has those expensive pillows... she wouldn't miss a few goose feathers... too bad I can't sew up the pillows when I'm done.

e-mail's being sent.

Well, I took it off and looked at it. There was a even coating of an oily type substance. It was not horrible, very similar to what I say when I put the crawford plenum on. I was not worried after seeing it. I wiped up all the crap, took some pictures, and reinstalled. My car has this strange sputtering sound after idling for a while. Anyone run into this. Do you have to reset the ecu after handling the TB? I will post pictures tonight.
