Vortech supercharging system
I have some questions for those with Vortech system:
~How many miles before the Vortech?
~How many miles with the Vortech?
~What did you pay for your kit?
~Cost of install or time took to install?
~How is the performance?
~Do you have any other engine mods?
~What is your whp and what PSI?
~Any problems with the belt?
Thank you for answering my questions!
G2FAST,
FYI - I called GT Motosports in Rancho Cucamonga regarding FI (Vortech, ATI, APS, etc.). The shop is an authorized APS dealer. Sam gave me some good info., options and pricing on FI for the G35.

^ GT Motorsports highly recommended the APS TT system - approx. $7500 + $2500 (install) = $10k including everything - tuning, dynos, etc., around 400 WHP. Sam was going to talk to APS about the single turbo kit for price, install, avail., etc.
He has done alot of 350Z with the ATI Procharger kits with good success. He said all kits are reliable just so you don't push the boost and HP too high. We discussed the Vortech SC for a long time. He said approx. $6000 installed with tuning & dynos. The estimated WHP would be 330 to 360, over that would be pushing it without internal mods. Sam was going to get back to me with some firm prices on kits, parts and install prices.

Keith, thanks for the information, thats the place near the 24hr fitness correct? See if maybe he would be interested in a group buy for FI kit? I'm sure we can gather some Z's and G's who would love to go FI. Do they do the tuning, dyno there or near by?
PS I called the guy in Ontario for the install on the wing i hope he call's me back soon.

There are several guys running stock internals making much more HP safely ....380 to 415 whp . On a Dynojet of course

booger - GT Motorsports recommendation is to run the car with less hp rather than push it to the limit without internal mods. The car is much more reliable for a daily driver. There is another thread under F1 (yesterday?) regarding Randy G's car with different dyno readings of whp approx. actual 345 rather than 388. Of course, Sam at GT said F1 puts a tremendous amount of stress on the engine components especially with higher boost and improper tuning.
G2FAST - GT said they have dynos, tune shop, body shop, parts shop, smog shop, etc. They are right off the 15 FWY and Foothill Blvd. Sam said they are building a 350Z from Washington with an APS TT, new engine, tranny, etc. for around $35,000. Whether its next month or 6 months from now, GT would get a price quote --- APS Single Turbo?

400hp is 400hp. It does not matter if your are getting 400hp on a maxed out vortech set up or conservetive APS TT. If it is safe to run 400 on the APS than it is safe to do it on other kits.
There are plenty of guys that have been in running in the 400hp neighborhood for 15K plus miles and still no problems. I think our motor is stronger than most people believe. Only time will tell.

400HP is not 400HP. It depends on tuning. One car making 400HP could be tuned within an inch of its life given certain mods. Another car might be just taking it easy.
Given the same engine, it's entirely possible that a Vortech SC @ 400HP is more dangerous than a turbo kit at 400HP. It boils down to efficiency. If that Vortech is making a hot nasty mess of the air at 400HP it's going to be much harder to tune and keep in a wide safety window. If @400HP the turbo car isn't even stretching its legs, the turbos are in optimal efficiency range, and everything is humming, you can bet that car will last longer.

~How many miles before the Vortech? I had 15k
~How many miles with the Vortech? I currently have 9k
~What did you pay for your kit? $4300 kit
~Cost of install or time took to install? $1000/2 days $300 tuning
~How is the performance? GREAT
~Do you have any other engine mods? No
~What is your whp and what PSI? after my new tune, 405rwhp @ 8psi (stock pulley)
~Any problems with the belt? Yes, replace stock belt with GATES belt...problem fixed
A few additional points:
~1/4 mile improvement: stock 14.4 @ 92 mph on street tires and stock 18's, Vortech: 13.2 @ 109mph on street tires and 19's, slicks will surely get me into the 12's
~Gas mileage when I'm not ON IT all of the time is 19mpg average from 22mpg before Vortech

Yeah that pic looks familiar, thats my car!
Vortech used my car as their prototype car for the installation of their blower, and that is directly from their site. Too bad i'm ripping it out next week. :-)
Getting APS TT from GT motorsports in Rancho Cuccamonga myself. Sam's a good guy.
