I have decided to sell my vortech and go TT. I was hell bent on the APS TT but have recently found out that unichip does not have any authorized tuners in FL. I checked on the APS website and the only authorized dealer in FL they have listed does not tune the kit either. WTF is going on? I live in Miami, FL not po dunk, where ever.

Anyway, I just can't see shelling out all that money for an APS TT if I can't re-tune it later when I build my motor. I am now considering going for the Greddy TT. I wanted to know how much boost Greddy TT owners are running on the stock block to kind of get a gauge of where I can push it. Here is what I plan on getting in addition to the Greddy TT if I go this route. I plan to rebuild within a year of installing TT.

Gman, the problem is you need to have a true load based dyno and years of tuning experience to map fuel injection for high powered turbo cars, we have not yet found any person that meets this criteria in your area yet.

Gman, if you are going to go down the path of building a nice engine I would strongly recommend that you have a very experienced 350Z tuner like SGP or GRD do the tuning work for you. It (the engine) can all turn to poo very quickly if the tuner does not have years of practical experience when tuning at these high power levels, if you need any help pm me and I will find a way to help you through this mine field.

At lower power levels (350 to 400 WHP) you can get away with mail order tuning though when pushing the power boundaries the exact tuning strategy needs to be absolutely perfect. Far better to have the engine thoroughly tuned the first time around and not risk hurting an expensive engine.

Thanks Peter. I was very disappointed to find out there were no tuners in the near area. Shoot, I would have driven 6-8hrs to get one. Can you say blue *****? After all, I decided to go TT because of the APS TT.

hey Gman2004 maybe you could have your car shipped (trucked) to a reputable tuner.

 

I thought about that. Just shiets start to add up. And what if I add some other mod in the future that requires a retune? What if something goes wrong with the car? I just don't feel good about my tuner being 2000+ miles away.

yeah i feel ya there too. i guess if your going to do it, do it all so you won't have to add any other mods later. but, on the point of what if something goes wrong? you have good point there.

 

As far as the additional mods in the future, I was trying to imply what if a new mod comes out. Especially since I have a G.....the 350z guys get all the mods first, then maybe the it rolls out to the G community.

I know you mentioned having your car built and tuned, but there is nobody locally in your area. Check out www.anderson-audio.com they are in Suwannee , GA just north of Atlanta off of I-85 and they do AMAZING work. I know it's not Florida, but it's one state up and I highly recommend them.Check out the twin turbo Lexus SC430 they built last year. The car made somewhere around 500+whp on a custom turbo kit. They can install any turbo kit on your car that you choose and you will not be disappointed. They have installed the greddy TT kit on 350z's and can build your motor to any spec. They build anything to a daily driven street beast to an all out drag car. Their shop supra runs in the 8's and is seen at the NOPI drag events. Hope this helps.

 

Gman's concern was not installing the turbo, it was finding a qualified tuner for the unichip.

 

I know they tune a broad range of standalones. They were talking about getting an in shop dyno soon and they might have it by now, but I don't really know. They normally bring their shop car or whatever car they need tuned to the dyno located a couple miles down the road. I don't know if they can tune the unichip, but it might be worth it to send them an email or give them a call. Just trying to help.
