Hey guys ordered my s/c about 2 weeks ago and should be about another 2 weeks..... so down to the questions
1) Is the factory front bumper enough for proper cooling?
2)How hard is it for you guys that are f/i to keep it in a straight line when you gun it & how careful are you guyz in the rain?

2) it's not hard to keep it in a straight line...the problem is keeping the tires hooked up until you're in 3rd! Now, you're not under boost until WOT (wide open throttle), so you shouldn't be screwing around in the rain and out of control.

In 9K miles, how many Vortec/Gates belts have you gone through.
What maintainance have you done, including the simple oil changes, belt tightenings (adjustments) etc...?
I'm trying to figure how "hands on" a S/C really is. TIA

Um yeah sorry about that but I just got my kit slightly used, see the thread https://g35driver.com/forums/showthread.php?t=51214 in the for sale section, that is the kit I purchased, so it looks like the guy who had it before me bought the gates belt, which I suppose is a good thing.

Funny you should ask as it is a local guy who is also on this board "G352NV" I think that's what he goes by, he will be doing the install and then the tuning will be probably done by the Z car garage.
I am hoping that everything will work well and that I will not need to upgrade any of the stock parts yet, for example, injectors, fuel pump and front bumper as I have noticed that there isn't a really large opening for the FMIC. I just hope that the Gialle grill will help provide enough air flow.

Stock Injector Question
Randy or GMan - So what are the stock injectors rated for horsepower-wise?
RC Engineering uses their own nomenclature to market their injectors based on a rough rating of HP sustainability; ie, 440 injectors will support 440 rwhp; 550's will handle 550 rwhp, etc. Any info/guesses on the factory injector rating?
I bought Gurgen's PE 380 injectors but since I've spoken to John ( Isbell ) about him doing my install & seeking the maximium amount of power the stock internals can handle ( definitely willing to push the envelope as I'm kinda looking for an excuse to build a motor!! )
, I'm wondering if perhaps those may limit things. Gurgen's problems weren't attributed to fuel delivery as I recall but I also know that if the stock injectors are constantly running at 100% duty cycle, they certainly will suffer an earlier death due to premature wear.
FWIW - I've already bought a Walbro 255 & Aeromotive rising rate FPR & am seriously considering either AAM's or CJ Motorsport's ( Charles/Phlunk ) full return style fuel delivery systems.
Any input here will be helpful & might even make me consider taking the 440's off GMan's hands!

If I recall correctly I've have seen guys making just under 430whp with the stock injectors. I definately know that they can handle around 415whp. The the thing is they are being overworked and they may give out. Kyle at SGP racing told me that the rc 440's would be good for up to 470whp.
I would not recommend the 550's for the vortech. I think this is overkill for the power you are going to make. Also you will have a hard time scaling them and your idle will probably suffer, unless you send your ECU to TS to have the injectors scaled to 440's. Afterwards you can scale some more with the R4, other wise it is just to big of a jump from the stockers to the 550's to adjust with the r4. Even the greddy guys are getting the injectors scaled to 440's by TS, and they adjusting with the emanage when they switch to 550's.
The 550's would be good if you had a built bottom end, 12lb pulley, and a rebuilt blower. I think it is called a T trim which allows it to spin faster with out damage. Booger is currently working on this very set up, but I don't know which pulley he has.
Let me know if you want the injectors. The clips are still on my car, but if you want mine, I will go ahead and order the new ones and give you the clips from those.

I'll probably get with Gurgen about the power handling of the 380's first but do the 440's require any spacers or adapters? I know the PE's clip right into the factory fuel rails but, then again, I MAY be changing to the aftermarket rails I mentioned in my first post.
If I blow the stock motor then I'll probably scrap the Vortech & go with an APS T/T kit atop an SGP or AEBS motor but we're taking BIG $$ here!!
Then I hope to be pushing enough power to NEED the 550's!!
