Dealer install on FI?

K, Well i've been thinking about going FI on my G lately, but i got some questions. I was reading up on some of these threads/posts and it seems that the safest way to go would be with a Vortec or Stillen SC. Even though it's the safest it doesnt mean that things can't happen.

So, I was reading that you can actually have an Infiniti/Nissan dealer install it for you, and it wouldn't void warranty. With that being said, if anything were to break down the line, would that be covered by the dealer? or would you be on your own?

Btw: anyone know of a dealer in SoCal that would do the install on any of these two blowers?

OK here's the story (and there are always people asking the question).

The dealer you are dealing with sells a manufacturer's product. The dealer cannot void a warranty, only the manufacturer (Nissan) can do that. However, the dealer can tell Nissan what they are finding and based on this information Nissan can honor or void the warranty.

If a dealer is telling you something will/will not void a warranty, especially a SC or T/TT unit, you'd better get it in writing from an authorized representative from that dealership. In case of any trouble the dealership is probably going to dive for cover.

You need to specifically talk to the dealerships to see if they are mod friendly. Again, if they are get everything they are telling you in writing because if/when something happens you want to cover your butt.

FYI when most FI producers are listing warranties, it's for their kit, it is not going to be for the car's powertrain/engine.

Stillen does offer warranty on the engine for something like an extra $200-300 - this is for their stage 1 and stage 2 superchargers.

Interesting, what about other drivetrain components like clutch? Also if you're changing pulleys will Stillen warrant the engine?

I believe the warranty is only on the stage 2 intercooled system.

G35BASTARD I'd call Stillen. I just took a look at the site and the only information I found was this:

Stage Details, Warranty, Options
Stage 2 is CARB legal, Stages 1 and 2 are available with an optional 3 year/36,000 mile engine warranty, Stages 2 and 3 are intercooled. The supercharger is covered by its own 12 month warrantee. These units are upgradeable in the range of Stage 1 to 3. Now also available in polished finish!

It's not too specific what the warranty covers and what the terms of the warranty are.

Please let us know what you find out.
