cutting through bumper reinforcement?
cutting through bumper reinforcement?
Hello. I am new to the FI game.
I was browsing upon the APS twin turbo kit and noticed the front bumper reinforcement covers about 1/3rd of the intercooler. Instead of removing the front bar, I think it's best to cut a portion of it.
how feasible is it to cut through the reinforcement bar? can i use a regular rotary tool with a carbon disc? i will also relocate the tow threaded triangle for safety purposes.

I did it. The shop used a sawzall and then I recut it with a bandsaw to trim a bit more back. I then proceded to use the notched out portion of the bumper support to make custom radiator mounts for my Koyo radiator.
I plan on having a custom nosepiece molded and then welding a new bumper support to the stubs that I have left. I will have some pictures later hopefully. The positive thing is is that alumninum is very soft and easy to cut.
I plan on moving the tow hook to the drivers side 'stub' as the passengers side has the power steering cooler. With my new nosepiece I will have one large FMIC opening and then two smaller openings on each side for brakes and turbo inlets.
