Forged bottom end APS TT!

I picked up my forged bottom end APS powered 04 coupe this afternoon (right after I signed the papers to buy a house!). Here is a run of what I've had done to it:

Arias 8.6:1 forged pistons with 0.020" overbore
Pauter foreged rods
JWT cams - custom grind
JWT valve springs
ARP Main and Head studs
APS TT (350Z)
APS TD Exhaust (350Z)
APS test pipes
Koyo Radiator (350Z)
Samco hoses
Pithon locks
Crawford Cast plenum
JWT clutch (for now)
JWT Flywheel
Braided stainless fuel return line
Stock sleeves
Stock block
Stock crank

My goal is 500whp untuned on 12psi.

I drove the car Saturday night for the first time with the turbos hooked up. I didn't get on it at all, just barely enough to hear the blow off valve a few times. I had some major overheating problems at first, but we believe we have gotten all the air out of the cooling system and everything is normal now. My plans now are to have my custom front nosepiece molded and to concentrate on breaking the car in. I want to get about 600 miles on it and then take it to Chicago for dyno tuning.

The only noticable problem now is that the car doesn't idle very well. Off idle, its smooth as stock, and the sound is amazing. However, with the cams it just struggles to idle at 600rpm! I plan on swinging by a Nissan dealership and seeing if they can raise the idle, but I'm not sure what they'll be able to do for it. If I can't get the idle changed I will attempt to add my own idle adjustment 'valve.'

I'll post pictures sometime soon, its amazing at how tight everything is in the engine now. I would go as far to say that the Koyo radiator doens't fit. Its too deep. Once we got the custom brackets made for it the shop had to 'trim' my factory fans. He ended up having to even shave the fins of the fans themselves to clear the intercooler piping! At least 30% of the fan housing was eliminated! I really wanted to keep the factory fans, and I have to give Quick Rev! (www.QuickRev.com) credit for making my wishes come true!

This is gonna be one bad mammajamma of a car.

I was over at QuickRev! getting a nitrous install and watching em cut/paste all the fuel lines, fan pieces, etc. together for this auto.

Quality work.

I will let KP explain the radiator mounts

500hp untuned? I hope you're not just going to slap the unichip on and call it a day with that motor! It limits boost to 9psi w/ testpipes. I suggest you change the 12psi wastegate actuators and open her up! (Get her tuned)

Ted at Scott Performance preprogrammed the Unichip for my application. He had already made a general high boost 94 octane program. I don't plan on running it hard until it has been dyno tuned. However, I don't plan on grandma-ing either. I will keep it below 4,000 RPM with some half throttle starts from time to time, and I will try not to keep the car at a single RPM for very long.

The radiator mounts....

The Koyo radiator doesn't fit well in my car. Well, actually, the radiator wasn't too bad, Jim at Quick Rev! made custom mounting brackets out of my 'notched' front bumper. He then polished the alumninum to match the radiator. It looks stock, and uses the stock mounts, without modifying the radiator at all. The big problem was the fans. He removed probably 40% of the material around the fans because the fans were hitting the intercooler piping. He actually had to shave down the blades on each fan! After we made sure they were balanced it barely slid it and bolted up. I will be keeping an eye on it to make sure it doesn't desinigrate!

Like I said, after 1,000 miles the car will be dyno tuned by a Unichip dealer. For the time being I'm going to try and put a few more miles on the car before I take it to the dealer to raise the idle. I'm just excited now to have the car sitting at home in my driveway!

Thanks! I just ordered the kit, it sounds like its exactly what I need. Throw that thing in, and still possibly raise the idle up a tad, just to be save (like I said, I think 600 rpm is a bit low for idle)

Actually, I'm going to hold of on spending $55 for $15 worth of parts. It says all they are doing is basically connecting the plenum vacuum line to the intake vacuum line by inserting two tees, and a piece of hose. I think I can handle that one on my own...

I got the idle fixed today! For $97 Infiniti of Dayton got it perfect, or at least perfect so far. I'll post a more detailed thread on this later today.
