Turbonetics ST kit vs APS TT kit comparison dynos

Well this is from my350 but applies here.

This is a recent dyno overlay of an APS TT Z and a Turbonetics ST Z:

APS TT Car has: APS TT kit, test pipes, plenum, true dual exhaust, UR crank pulley, and lightweight flywheel

Turbonetics car has: Turbonetics ST kit, Nismo wing

Numbers are a little hard to read but APS tt car made 367 RWHP, 365 ft/lb
Turbonetics car made 358 RWHP 380 ft/lb

Mia,
Was both at same psi, curious if the APS was tuned, or just out of box, with those extra mods it should be close to 400rwhp. Regardless, Tnetics ST has impressive #'s, 380lb Torque power.

Jimmy,
I believe you can still use the Tnetics ST with your '05. Just get the tuner version, if available, and or just use the Emanage Ultimate, SS Box, HKS v pro, etc., since TS ecu flash is not ready for '05. Probably best since you have other mods, that way you can have it tuned by your local tuner, no need to send your ecu.

They were both out of box tunes. Turbonetics car had just the kit nothing else out of box tune. The APS car had all the mods listed and out of box tune. The closest tuner shop to this guy is 2k miles away. As for the 05 G Turbonetics is doing it they are just waiting on the 05 G flash to be done. They have an 05 Z in the shop right now so they can get some research in on the 05 ECU and are just working with Technosquare to get the 05 done. It is coming...

Interesing, so the APS kit with addons has lower torque for peak numbers but boost comes in stronger and earlier than the Turbonetics ST. Which is just about right. Which has potential to make the most power out of the box with just turbos added is what really should be compared. Otherwise its still apples and oranges..

Considering the conversation that's being elicited by this topic on another board, I can't believe that you're, MIAPLAYA, actually posting this topic like this without any reference to the myraid points of interest in it.

That's just sad. But anything to sell another kit, eh? I know I wouldn't take my business to Turbonetics now if you paid me.

NO NO NO NO people

Get a freaking clue already. Look at the entire picture. As I have said before, the worst engineered kit in the world, for as long as there isn't a huge pressure drop, will make great numbers given enough timing. You really need to compare numbers, for a lack of an official term for this, trq/degrees advance ratio, to put it VERY crudely. Also, the obvious point here is that APS loses a bit of power in the midrange due to the mixture being a little too rich. Once that's corrected (should take no more than an hour), then it's truly no competition.

I don't know what MIANETICS is trying to do here, but if I were selling TN (or promoting), I would not be displaying that dyno sheet around at all, as it shows a less-than-perfectly tuned APS beat TN in all but 1500 rpm of the band, especially on the low end, byt some 70+ lb/ft or torque.

Look at my long response on 350zmotoring on this page: http://www.350zmotoring.com/forums/s...693#post416691 and you will understand what' sgoing on, not just in this case, but how power is made overall.

Gurgen, that was a great post that you put up over there on 350Z. Very informative and a lot more detailed. I appreciate the time.

Darnit. Now, after reading all 7 pages of that thread I have a few questions.

When I get my Vortech S/C installed and tuned in NC, do I need to drive 250 varying miles and get it re-tuned or at least re-dynoed? Will my A/F really change that much? If the re-tune is necessary, is there anything "magical" about the 250 miles? Could it be 150 miles?

I have to drive 8-9 hours one way for my install and tune and I really don't want to screw things up. Any advice would be greatly appreciated Gurgen.

Actually, 250 miles is a VERY conservative number, although it probably does take at least 100-150 to get to the VERY final long term fuel trim number. However, the GOOD news is that a huge majoriy of the long term trim is in in just about 20-miles of driving. So, no, you don't have much to worry about. Just stay out of boost, and you'll be fine before you can tune it.
