My Belt question...

Hi people I took my Car in today to get the belt tightend yet (5th trip)again. And the instaler said that if he tightned it any more then it was that I'll kill my bearings has anyone heard of this? I don't think I should be the only G running around with a slipping belt (@ High RPMS) or (Cold starts) but I don't wan't to mess anything up either I prefer get rid of the kit before problems arrive. But Damn this is annoying SO I told the guy to tighten it up anyway (against his will) and now it's really tight.ANd the car runs great but what is your're opinion. btw I did buy the gates belt but he said there is no point in changing it because they look the same.

Having not seen either belt face to face (only pictures on the internet) the GATES belt is supposed to be about twice as thick as the gator belt from what I've read. I'd tell him to swap it out, and if he won't do it, take the car to another shop and pay them to. This swap can't be that difficult because many of the FI guys are tightening their belts periodically, changing them out, etc. in their own garages.

There are close to 100 different posters on this and 2 other major 350z message boards running the Vortech set up and they all swear by the GATES belt. I would not write it off if I were you. Good Luck!

Tell your installer that if he can't see the difference in the Gates belt to the belt you have on the car he doesn't need to be working on your car. The Gates belt is nearly twice and thick and will grab much better; it will also not stretch as much. Whatever he is talking about with the "bearings" is a crock of ****, tell him to shut up and do his job...
