That's what I am saying! I think it was just big enough that it couldn't get past the TB plate. Talk about good fortune.

Did you email the pics to Vortech and ask if they had a clue?

It looks man made to me, probably related to tooling - I agree to check with Vortech. That's a big QC issue - could've destroyed your motor and god knows what would've happened if you were at highway speeds and it gets sucked in...

we have a winner!

I actually called vortech earlier today and confirmed that this was in fact the item that I found. No harm no foul (knock on wood), but I just wanted to confirm what it was. Now it's time to drill a hole in it and hang it from my rear view mirror, haha!

Unhappy

Well....that just gives me a "warm & fuzzy" about their quality control and inspection before the product is shipped out.......

My snail housing doesn't even have the Vortech logo on the front like they used to....does yours??

lol..i'm a lilttle late on this one am i?
on molded/casted parts such as turbo housing, there're little flashes, burrs on the edges as result of the gap at the parting line.
it would be a lot of time consuming to remove those by hand.so they throw the parts inside the "tumbling drum" which look like a cement mixer.along with those some water and those little green thingies.i believe they called "media" they come in all sizes, shapes, colors and roughness.basiclly they're stones.with the switch on,the drum viabrates and rolls to take care of those burrs.very offen the stone get stuck inside the part.it's the operator and the inspector's fault for let it goes like that.i say save that "thing" and if later anything happen, use that agaist them hehehe...glad to hear you found that before disaster
