Automatic Turbo!!!!

i really want to get a APS single turbo..at the same time i dont want to mess up my transmission =] on the APS site it has this for Auto reference

NOTE Auto Transmission Applicability Reference

1. Physically fits
2. Requires torque capacity upgrade by trans specialist

umm im pretty nub at modding cars and stuff..but what does number 2 mean ^^ and how much do u think it will cost to get it done.

1. It will work with automatics if it fits
2. You will need to upgrade your tranny to handle the boost.

The OTHER way around.

Definitely upgrade your VB if you will be making over 330 whp (or 400 crank). A torque converter is recommended, but mostly to dial in the correct stall and STR math for the NEW torque and hp figures. The higher the torque, the higher the stall speed of the torque converter. You may be very happy withteh increased stall, which is what most people do anyway on NA cars... but prepare to put slicks or drag radials if you want to hook up in first for anythign over 350lb/ft of torque.

I'm in the same boat - put off the FI bug till Spring when hopefully JWT TT can also be part of the comparison shopping...

My plan was just to do the SGP VB upgrade with the extra tranny cooler. The tranny cooler is cheap and very highly recommended.

My understanding is that the TC upgrade is optional. I don't understand why that upgrade is necessary when torque is going up as it is with FI. Do you mean to change the TC to reduce the stall speed to prevent wheel spin? Anyway, wasn't planning on messing with the TC unless someone poses a convincing argument to do so...

Hey RC...just to update you. I got the Vortech put on and went ahead and had the shop put in the tranny cooler. You will defiently want the VB upgrade too. I just have to wait for SGP to come out with the new one. Like you, until someone convinces me otherwise, I'm not gonna change my TC.
