The only thing you really should have , if going to FI with a AT5 is the rev limit raised to 7100rpm . SO the tranny has time to shift in auto mode .

Yeah Jason, if you didn't have gauges you wouldn't be worried that you're about to GRENADE your engine due to extremely high EGT's. 900+ Celcius after 1 good run is nuts. I'm glad you sprung for the extra gauges. I'd hate to have you thinking everything was fine with your set up and then in 5000 or 15000 miles have a blown engine.

Gauges are important with any FI set up. Some people never buy gauges and never have a problem. Others buy them and never have a problem either. The saving grace is, if you have the gauges and you develop a problem they can warn you of the potential problem and they could save you way more than they cost. So far my boost gauge has told me that my belt was loose. That's it. Have I got my moneys worth yet? Probably not, but I enjoy the peace of mind knowing that if something bad does happen I have a chance of noticing it before it's too late.

Jason's EGT gauge has told him that he's either a little too lean (what I believe) or that his exhaust is too restrictive. Either way he knows things aren't working right thanks to his gauges. YMMV

Booger, so then you don't also promote the $50 tranny cooler? I thought this would be a must for any 5AT with FI.

Hmmm instead of gauges can i hook up a laptop to my car..and show all the the stuff on the laptop instead =b ?..i heard like with a laptop you can control a lot, like you can set how much boost you get in a gear. You think its possible to connect it?

do i need to reflash my ecu or does the vortech come with a piggy back

If you get the Zeitronix digital gauge like I did...you could do it that way. I bought the LCD screen so I can see while I am driving. But I can always hook up a laptop and datalog everything. Kinda neat actually. The laptop will record RPM, Throttle, Lambda, A/F, and Boost all at the same time (there is also a spot for another user input). It records like 60 logs per second:

I don't have a single gauge installed either even though I have them sitting on my garage floor. I agree with Booger though that you will need to A) get the Limited Flash done and B) Get the VB upgrade, both are a must in a 5AT.
11,800 miles on my SC and still going strong.

as far as know, i am the only person other than APS to have a single turbo on a G. and i had a vortech before that. i do have a 6mt tho and not an auto. the differences between the two kits is night and day. i installed both and the installs werent too bad. the vortech was 1k cheaper. IMO the APS far outperforms the vortech. i hate to say it but its true. full boost at around 3200, and almost no lag. im having a problem with boost because my wastegate is weak. once i get it fixed its gonna be great. the APS comes with a better fuel upgrade, oil pan, and a few other things. as far as im concerned i think the APS is better, of course i got it in a GB and got the free plenum, so im not sure what prices are now but i think its worth it.

From my initial looks at the dyno chart of NA vs. Vortech vs. APS TT (still missing that APS ST) it would appear that there are 2 valid choices for modding.

1. skip the NA path all together and go straight to the Vortech S/C for about the same amount of money.

2. Either a ST or a TT for the most bang for the buck (but safety and longevity is still being determined).

I should have much more on this comparison soon, hopefully.

Also Booger, I thought the Ne in your sig stood for New England (not Nebraska) that's why I said the 'North East'.

So it was a problem with the wastegate like we talked about brett? That sucks, but it is better than a myriad of other problems that could have been going on..

im pretty sure thats the problem, i havent changed the wastegate yet, but ive pretty much checked everything else out and nothing else could be the culprit.
