Maybe this will help.....
Imagine this, you have two balloons... One is blown up half way, and the other is blown up almost to the max. Now take them both and toss them around, throw them from wall to wall... Chance are the one that's blown up to the max will probably bounce better and be more fun to play with, but you'll have to be a little more careful not to pop it by hitting it hard or using it around sharp or hot areas, whereas the baloon thats not as fill, is more resilient to poping and abuse...
In your engine & trans case - extra care should be given to the type of oil and fluids that are used, when they're checked and changed. You should allow ample time for the engine and trans to cool down as well as warm up prior or after any "racing". You gotta listen to it all while under load, keep an ear out for detonation, misses (both in the engine and trans), and knocks. You gotta feel and be ready for each and every shift. In a sense you yourself have to be tuned to the car and know what everythings doing at any given second. You simply have to be more aware and alert. That's really the key to keeping a FI powertrain running for years. Believe it or not, it's more the "human effort" than mechanical.
Believe me, I've been there!
(Previous "FI" rides I have owned - 99 Powerdyne supercharged GMC Denali, 95 RMS supercharged BMW M3, 92 upgraded Garret turbo Toyota MR2, and I still got my 95 supercharged GMC Yukon GT....)

Dude, the engine is already out and on the picker... I wanted to clean the engine bay, but was having a heck of a time reaching into certain area's with my rag, so I yanked the sucker out......
Might as well Turbo it now....
