Vortech and headers

I plan on picking up some headers pretty soon but I am sort of in a delima as to which brand to buy. I've pretty much decided to drop the extra cash on Crawford's. I'd like to put on a supercharger in about 6 months or so but am wondering is the Crawford are a good match with the Vortech? If not what header brand would be best? Or save the cash and go supercharged a couple months quicker....Hmmm Thanks

My opinion.....save the money. Crawfords will put you back about a grand and then install is a pain on those as they have to lift the engine. Just save the money and get the Vortech. (Though you may wanna PM Neffster...he has both the Vortech and the entire Crawford package)

The headers will give you more horsepower (20 or so), more torque (20+ at the wheels) and less boost! The car will be able to breath much more easily with the headers and this equates to more power.

I overlaid a dyno of mine and jasons. I have the Crawford Plenum, Crawford Headers, Crawford h/f cats and JIC Y-Pipe while Jason only has the Crawford Cats.

This was our dyno comparison (both of us had slightly loose belts)... Notice how I had a lower A/F (this equates to a 'safer' tune and less hp/tq than if I had it leaned out some).

Neff, I wouldn't put any stock into that dyno day. We had loose belts, dyno jet was funked up and that a/f sniffer was waaaaay off. No way am I running 13s a/f. I've datalogged a bunch and never got that high.

With that said...would you recommend 20+ hp/tq for $1500 (conservative number)?

As of now I have a lot of NA mods but I know I will never be satisfied unless I go FI. If I go FI, I will go vortech and my question is, will I lose hp and back pressure with my mods (headers, plenum, high flow cat, y pipe)?

no...with less back pressure...i think you'll get the hp/tq to go higher but you won't have as high a boost. (from my understanding...but I'm sure Neffster will chime in....about.....6:45AM)

I had Vortech, headers,SSV IM., Crawford cats, and Evo2 exhaust and would see my boost at 8.5 all the time.

I am putting DC headers on in a few weeks to go along with the crawford cats, fuji y-pipe and exhaust and may also pick up a plenum along the way, hoping to see some real gains. If it is true about 20hp gains then that would be a sight to see.

As of right now I am getting about 407rwhp, that is with the Vortech and 3.12 pulley and cams. I just wanted a bit more power and also gain some torque.

I think it was 376. I had it posted somewhere on here, along with the dyno sheet but that was also untuned.

376whp with regular pulley and bolt ons? Damn thats not bad. Did u get the vortech with the split sec box or without and just run it with the fmu? Also, does the vortech come with a bov?

Neff - with the vortech and complete crawford, you are getting 388whp? I thought you could get around 380whp stock, with nothing else.

What should I expect if I only have mid-pipe back exhaust and 3.12 pulley?
