ANY PROBS with APS

I am undecided between vortech and APS TT. I really dont feel like building a motor for a while and am interested in reliability. I have already researched vortech up and down and know about some problems. What about the APS TT kit, anyone having heat issues, or detonation. Does temp run hot on either kit because of intercooler blocking radiator? Im scared of turbo because on my prelude, it ran hot, and if the temp was above 100 (which happens alot in vegas) It was worthless to drive my car because it would over heat. Thanx for opinions and answers.

i have the vortech and it does not run hot at all ..... i havent heard of much problems with the vortech .... i have heard many problem with the turbo kits ... paranormal just blew his engine with the aps tt .... gman2004 w/ the greddy tt ...there is many more with the same problems.... you have to know what you want and what youll be happy with .... you really can not compare the aps tt to the vortech .... especially in the price ....

Dont just consider the brand, I think you also need to consider who or where your going to install your FI kit. Make sure they are experienced with FI and familiar with the G's. Most of kits out there are good, just need to find installers with knowledge of those kits. If your going with APS, make sure they are a qualified unichip tuner. I dont think APS is the best kit, but is possibly the most complete kit, out of box. Vortech is possibly one of the safer kits on stock motor, already tuned out of box for stock G, but should still be tuned by someone with knowledge of the Split 2nd box. A big plus with Vortech is they are carb approved. Also note the price difference, Vortech around $4300 + $1000 install, APS TT $7500 + $2500 install. Main reason I went with SFR TT kit, the company that makes and designed it is also located in San Diego. Any problems, they're within 15min. driving distance.

The vortech just seems to have simplicity, less probs, and better price. Also what psi is the vortech if you upgrade the pully? It seems like an excellent bang for the buck. I just dont want to be driven, minding my own business and some kid in an SRT-4 he just pulled off the lot come messin with me. You think the vortech is enough?

I almost think the installer is as/more important than the kit, SC or Turbo

Paranormal (aps tt)might have blown his motor because he had less than 3 quarts of oil in the car. turbo'd or not, the motor was gonna go. i'm suprised you'd be looking at the supercharger and a tt kit. most guys because of the price diff are looking at the single turbos and superchargers. just know that with proper tuning and expert install you'll be fine....but without preventative maintenance you'll have a shortened engine life with any of these kits, trust that. all the kits have plus and minuses, just do your homework and be honest with your horsepower expectations.

what bullitproof said.. i thought i could get by a few extra days cause i was enjoying my car and payed the price. .the actual kit did not blow my engine.. or the install or the tune.. i was pushing 420rwhp with ease.. what broke is the rod end barings and not the actual rod from to much power.. no oil and thats what happens.. i still stand by aps as a kit.. my **** up and thats that.. no worries.. now i can build my engine and get to 5 hundo in no time.. ohh ****! hahaha

hey paranormal, are you running that on mostly stock internals, or do you have something going on in there to help with the added pressure?

AGREED and I have an excellent installer, very reputable. What is your main difference on APS ST or TT. I thought TT had quiker spool up due to smaller turbos (even though 18g isnt that small) It might sound stupid, but I don't like the manifolds on ST setup. I figure TT would be more effecient, but would just cost more due to more parts. I think I would be satified with right around 420 which seams feasable with the vortech and bolt ons.

I think paranormal was boosting a stock motor. 420whp is'nt uncommon right now. they have guys pushing 470whp on stck motors with great tuning. now when he builds the motor.......... i'll make sure to hide my intercooler when that beast is around!!!!! muhahahahahahahahahahahaha
